The following is a list of the winners of the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship since the inception of the championship in 2008. Doubles is a discipline of curling in which a team of two competes with six stones, instead of the traditional team of four with eight stones. Mixed doubles specifies that the team consist of one man and one woman. World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship
The World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships are annual curling tournaments featuring the world's best teams of mixed doubles curlers. History The tournament began in 2008 with the 2008 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. Switzerland's mixed doubles team of Irene Schori and Toni Müller dominated the 2008 and 2009 championships and appeared in the first three worlds. At the 2010 Worlds, Russia won its first ever world curling title by defeating New Zealand, also first-time curling medalists. Russia did not successfully defend its world title, however, as they were defeated in the final of the 2011 Worlds by Switzerland, who won its third championship in four years. Switzerland then defended its title the next year, earning its fourth gold medal with a win over Sweden. In 2013, Hungary won their first world curling title after defeating Sweden in the final. Christian Roth (born in Hanover, Germany) is a designer of luxury spectacles. Early life Roth is the son to Dr. Fritz-Jürgen and Sabine Roth, geb. von Prittwitz und Gaffron, and recalls receiving a pair of Ray-Bans from his father at age 14 as a defining moment in discovering his passion for eyewear. In 1980, Roth started his career in New York as an assistant to the late fashion photographer Rico Puhlmann. In 1978, he met French-born Eric Domege, who was studying marketing at the Academie Commerciale Internationale (A.C.I.) at the time, in Paris. The pair met again in New York, and in 1983 they founded Optical Affairs. Personal life Roth married his partner, Eric Domege, on January 9, 2015, in Miami Beach, Florida. Claudia Fischer (born 24 May 1981 as Claudia Toth) was the Austrian national women's curling team skip from 2004-200 She has played in four European Curling Championships, European Championships, skipping her Austrian team to an 11th-place finish in 2004, 9th place in 2005, 11th place in 2006 and 9th place in 2007. Martin Rios (born 24 May 1981) is a Spanish-Swiss curler. He competed in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the mixed doubles tournament with partner Jenny Perret, winning a silver medal. He is two-time (2012, 2017) World Mixed Doubles Champion and 2011 European Mixed Champion. At the 2012 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship he was partnered with Nadine Lehmann and at the 2017 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship he was paired with Perret. Nadine Lehmann
Nadine Lehmann (born 9 August 1990) is a Swiss curler from Richigen. She is the former third for the Alina Pätz rink and with this rink won the 2015 World Women's Curling Championship. Career Lehmann was an alternate on the 8th place Swiss team at the 2012 World Junior Curling Championships, though she didn't play in any games. Later that year she won a gold medal at the 2012 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship with Martin Rios. The pair would represent Switzerland again at the 2013 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, but finished 6th. After juniors, Lehmann joined the Manuela Siegrist rink, playing second on the team. Alexey Tselousov
Alexey Tselousov is a Russian curler from Saint Petersburg. Tselousov has played in eight European Curling Championships (1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2011), skipping all but two (1995 and 2004) when he played second for the Russian team. While playing on the Russian team, his best performance was 2004 when he played second for Alexander Kirikov. The rink finished in 8th place. Alina Romanovna Kovaleva (russian: Алина Романовна Ковалёва; born 18 February 1993) is a Russian curler from Saint Petersburg. Her major achievement to date was winning the 2015 European Curling Championships as alternate. Kovaleva is Merited Master of Sports of Russia (2016). Career Kovaleva practiced curling in her school years in her hometown Slantsy. She then moved to St. Petersburg to the Sports School of Olympic Reserve, No. 2.
