The following is a list of drafts held by Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), with a brief description of each. Inaugural season *2000 WUSA Player Allocation - Twenty-four players from the United States women's national soccer team player pool told the league which of the seven initial teams they would like to play for, with the teams likewise telling the league which players they wanted. The league announced which players would go to which teams on May 24, 2000. *2000 WUSA Foreign Player Allocation - On October 31, 2000, sixteen of the top international players in the world were grouped into eight pairs with each WUSA team receiving one selection. *2000 WUSA Draft - On December 10–11, 2000, each WUSA team received one selection from each round of a 15-round inaugural main draft. *2001 WUSA Supplemental Draft - On February 4, 2001, each WUSA team made four further selections in a four-round draft for recent graduates and late entrants to the draft pool. Women's United Soccer Association
The Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) was the world's first Women's association football, women's soccer league in which all the players were paid as professionals. Founded in February 2000 in sports, 2000, the league began its first season in April 2001 in sports, 2001 with eight teams in the United States. The league suspended operations on September 15, 2003, shortly after the end of its third season, after making cumulative losses of around US$100 million. 2000 WUSA Player Allocation
The WUSA Founding Player Allocation distributed 24 players from the United States women's national soccer team to the eight founding teams of the WUSA. The initial allocation list was announced on May 24, 2000 and consisted primarily of players from the American team that won the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup the previous year. The United States women's national soccer team (USWNT) represents the United States in international women's Association football, soccer. 2000 WUSA Foreign Player Allocation
The 2000 WUSA Foreign Player Allocation took place on October 30, 2000. It was the first international draft held by Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) to assign the rights of international players to the eight American-based teams. The 16 players were paired and each team selected one pair. The WUSA Supplemental Player Draft, held before Women's United Soccer Association's initial 2001 season, distributed college players to the league's eight inaugural teams. The draft occurred on February 4, 2001. This took place after each team had already been allocated three national team players, two foreign players and had each made 15 selections from the main draft held on December 10 and 11, 2000. The following is a list of drafts held by National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), with a brief description of each. Preseason 2013 (inaugural) *2013 NWSL College Draft: Held January 18 at the annual NSCAA convention, this year in Indianapolis, the draft allowed all eight teams to draft four players who had completed their college eligibility.
