Vertigo, also known as DC Vertigo, was an imprint of American comic book publisher DC Comics started in 1993, with the purpose of publishing comics with adult content that did not fit the restrictions of DC's main line, allowing for more creative freedom. It consisted of company-owned titles such as '' The Sandman'' and ''Hellblazer'', as well as creator-owned titles such as ''Preacher'' and ''Fables''. The imprint was discontinued in January 2020, and future reprinted material will be published under the new DC Black Label imprint, intended for mature audiences. Vertigo Comics, also known as DC Vertigo or simply Vertigo, was an imprint of American comic book publisher DC Comics started by editor Karen Berger in 1993. Vertigo's purpose was to publish comics with adult content, such as nudity, drug use, profanity, and graphic violence, that did not fit the restrictions of DC's main line, thus allowing more creative freedom. ''Adventures in the Rifle Brigade'' is the name of two Vertigo comic book limited series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Carlos Ezquerra. The first series, ''Adventures in the Rifle Brigade'', was released in 2000. Its sequel, ''Adventures in the Rifle Brigade: Operation: Bollock'', was released in 2001 and 2002. Plot The Rifle Brigade is a British special forces commando unit commanded by Captain Darcy and staffed with a variety of oddball and at times deviant soldiers from varied British cities and allied nations. The two stories concerns their various covert missions across Europe and Africa and their relevance to the Allied victory. "Operation: Bollock" in particular focused on the team's diplomatic and action-packed attempts to gain for themselves the missing testicle of Adolf Hitler. ''Black Orchid'' is an American comic book written by Neil Gaiman with art by Dave McKean. It was published by DC Comics as a three-issue limited series from December 1988 to February 1989, and was later reprinted in trade paperback form. ''Black Orchid'' follows two girls, Flora and Suzy, who awaken in a greenhouse. Their journey to find out who they are leads them into contact with DC Universe figures like Batman and Swamp Thing, but also into conflict with criminal mastermind Lex Luthor, who seeks them for his own interests. Gaiman and McKean developed the series after meeting with Jenette Kahn, Dick Giordano, and Karen Berger in early 1987. ''Bite Club'' is a Vertigo comic book mini series created by writers Howard Chaykin and David Tischman. It is a crime story in which the protagonists are vampires living in Miami, Florida. Chaykin has said the comic was a metaphor for racial profiling and the immigrant experience. Plot After the murder of vampire crime boss Eduardo del Toro, his heirs and relatives begin to make a play for control of his organization. To their dismay, Toro in his will named his youngest son, a Roman Catholic priest and vampire named Leto, as his successor. Leto announces that his family will get out of the illegal-drug business and begin investing in legitimate industry. ''Beware the Creeper'' is the name of two comic book series published by DC Comics. The first series debuted in 1968 and starred the Creeper. This series was cancelled after six issues. ''Kurt Busiek's Astro City'' is an American superhero anthology comic book series centered on a fictional American city of that name. Created and written by Kurt Busiek, the series is mostly illustrated by Brent Anderson, with character designs and painted covers by Alex Ross.
