The Université de Montréal (UdeM; ; translates to University of Montreal) is a French-language public research university in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The university's main campus is located in the Côte-des-Neiges neighborhood of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce on Mount Royal near the Outremont Summit (also called Mount Murray), in the borough of Outremont. Stéphane Dion
Stéphane Maurice Dion (born 28 September 1955) is a Canadian diplomat, academic and former politician who has been the Canadian ambassador to France and Monaco since 2022 and special envoy to the European Union since 2017. Dion was Leader of the Opposition and the leader of the Liberal Party from 2006 to 2008. He served in cabinets as intergovernmental affairs minister (1996–2003), environment minister (2003–2006), and foreign affairs minister (2015–2017), and served as ambassador to Germany from 2017 to 2022. Before entering politics, Dion was a professor of political science at the Université de Montréal. His research focused on Canadian federalism and public administration. Jean-François Lisée
Jean-François Lisée (born February 13, 1958) is a Quebec nationalist politician who served as the leader of the Parti Québécois from October 2016 until October 2018. He was first elected a member of the National Assembly of Quebec in the 2012 Quebec election in the electoral district of Rosemont. Prior to winning political office, he was a political analyst, journalist, author, intellectual and sovereignist thinker. He was a "special advisor" to former PQ premiers of Quebec Jacques Parizeau and Lucien Bouchard. Physical Education
Physical education, often abbreviated to Phys Ed. or P.E., is a subject taught in schools around the world. It is usually taught during primary and secondary education, and encourages psychomotor learning by using a play and movement exploration setting to promote health and physical fitness. Activities in P.E. include football, netball, hockey, rounders, cricket, four square, racing, and numerous other children's games. Georges Larivière
Georges Larivière (born 1942) is a Canadian retired ice hockey coach, professor, writer, and sports administrator. He was the director of the Faculty of Physical Education at the Université de Montréal, researched the development of ice hockey players, and wrote books and manuals for coaches in English and French. He served as a board member of Hockey Canada, and helped recruit players for the Canada men's national ice hockey team. During the 1980s he was an assistant coach for the Canada men's national junior ice hockey team, and coached the Granby Bisons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was also a committee member of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, served as the technical director of the Italian Ice Sports Federation, lectured at sports-related conferences, and acted as a consultant for amateur sports organizations. Jean-Daniel Lafond
Jean-Daniel Lafond (born 18 August 1944) is a French-born Canadian filmmaker, teacher of philosophy, and the husband to the former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, making him the Viceregal Consort of Canada during her service. Biography Lafond was born in France during the liberation of Paris from the Nazis. After attending the class of Michel Foucault and Michel Serres, he taught philosophy from 1971 "while pursuing research in audio-visual training and communications". In 1974 Lafond left France for Quebec and became a Canadian citizen in 1981. After teaching at the Université de Montréal he left the university to focus on film-making, radio and writing. From his first marriage Lafond has two daughters, as well as two grandchildren. With his current wife, former Governor General Michaëlle Jean, he has an adopted daughter. Hubert T. Lacroix (born July 13, 1955) is a Canadian lawyer who last served as the President and CEO of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the national public radio and television broadcaster, from 2008 until 2018. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Lacroix attended Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf before receiving a Bachelor of Law degree from the McGill University Faculty of Law in 1976. He was admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1977 and received a master of Business Administration from McGill's Desautels Faculty of Management in 1981. Lionel Groulx (; 13 January 1878 – 23 May 1967) was a Canadian Roman Catholic priest, historian, and Quebec nationalism, Quebec nationalist. Biography Early life and ordination Lionel Groulx, né Joseph Adolphe Lyonel Groulx, the son of a farmer and lumberjack, and direct descendant of New France pioneer Coulée Grou, Jean Grou, was born and died at Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, Vaudreuil, Quebec. Pierrette Gaudreau is a Canadian scientist specializing in aging studies. She received the 2016 ''Prix Acfas Adrien-Pouliot'' for her work establishing Canada-France research partnerships. Career Gaudreau is mostly known for her work on growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH), but her research interests encompass all factors that play a role in human health and aging.
