Franco J. Vaccarino is a Canadian neuroscientist who served as the eighth president of the University of Guelph. Karen Beauchemin
Karen Beauchemin is a federal scientist in Canada who is recognized as an international authority on methane emissions and ruminant nutrition. Her research helps develop farming techniques that improve how we raise cattle for meat and milk, while reducing the environmental impacts of livestock production. The work of Beauchemin and her colleagues, has led to Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada being recognized as a world leader in measuring greenhouse gases and in developing strategies to reduce emissions from agricultural activities including from livestock production. Beauchemin has been recognized with awards from the Canadian Society of Animal Science, American Dairy Science Association, the Chinese Academy of Science, and the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry in Stockholm, Sweden. Alexandra Beaton
Alexandra Beaton (born ) is a Canadian actress. She is known for starring as Emily on the Canadian teen drama series '' The Next Step'' during its first seven seasons. Early life Beaton grew up near Claremont, Ontario. Beaton also has a younger sister, Sophie. She has stated that ever since a young age, she "knew" she wanted to be a performer, and began ballet classes at the age of two, and acting at five years old. Beaton studied political science at the University of Guelph, and noted that the course made her "think more critically". Career Beaton made her professional acting debut in the 2006 film ''300'', and subsequently appeared in various television advertisements. A Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) is an elected member of the Legislative Assembly of the Canadian province of Ontario. Theobald Butler "Toby" Barrett (born November 3, 1945) was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario representing the district of Haldimand—Norfolk for the Progressive Conservative Party from 1995 until 2022. Background Barrett was born in Port Dover, Ontario in 1945. His grandfather was Theobald Butler Barrett, Member of the Canadian Parliament for Norfolk from 1945 to 1949. Chris Banks (poet)
Chris Banks (born 1970) is a Canadian poet. Life Banks' childhood was spent in the small Ontario towns of Stayner, Sioux Lookout, and Bancroft. He received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph, before moving on to complete a Masters of Arts in Creative Writing from Concordia University and later a Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. Banks later began teaching at Bluevale Collegiate Institute in Waterloo, Ontario. Works/Books Banks' works include a chapbook, ''Form Letters'' (2002). His first full-length collection, ''Bonfires'', was awarded the Jack Chalmers Award for poetry by the Canadian Authors' Association in 2004. ''Bonfires'' was also a finalist for the Gerald Lampert Award for best first book of poetry in Canada. His most recent collection of poems ''Deepfake Serenade'' was published by Nightwood Editions in the fall of 2021. Allan M. Armitage (1 June 1946) is professor of horticulture at the University of Georgia, US, where he teaches, conducts research, and runs the University of Georgia Horticulture Gardens—producing annual guidelines for annuals and perennials suitable for heat and humidity. He is most famously known for his Tilley hat. Life Armitage travels widely as a lecturer and consultant and has received numerous awards from nursery trade groups and horticultural organizations, including the Medal of Honor from the Garden Club of America.
