This is a list of all the Ultra prominent peaks (with topographic prominence greater than 1,500 metres) in the Himalayas. Listed separately, to the west and north-west are the Karakoram and Hindu Kush Ultras, and while to the north-east and east are the ultras of Tibet.9 of the 10 Himalayan 8,000m peaks are ultras (the exception is Lhotse), and there are a further 28 peaks over 7000m. Ultra Prominent Peak
An ultra-prominent peak, or Ultra for short, is a mountain summit with a topographic prominence of or more; it is also called a P1500. The prominence of a peak is the minimum height of climb to the summit on any route from a higher peak, or from sea level if there is no higher peak. There are approximately 1,524 such peaks on Earth. Some well-known peaks, such as the Matterhorn and Eiger, are not Ultras because they are connected to higher mountains by high cols and therefore do not achieve enough topographic prominence. The term "Ultra" originated with earth scientist Steve Fry, from his studies of the prominence of peaks in Washington (state), Washington in the 1980s. His original term was "ultra major mountain", referring to peaks with at least of prominence. Miranjani is the highest peak in Galyat Region which is located at the elevation of , in Abbottabad District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the Province of Pakistan. It is located in the Namli Maira area, in Ayubia National Park, north of Islamabad in the western Himalayan range. Trek The Miranjani trek starts a few minutes drive away from the Governor House in Nathia Gali. The total length of the track is about 4.69 km and a net elevation of about 600 meters. Most of the path is soft dirt sparse with small rocks patches and hence is very easy to traverse with little effort. Intermediate to expert trekkers should be able to do it in 1 hour 15 mins to 2 hours. Beginners should also have no trouble and would be able to complete in 2–3 hours. Nanda Devi is the second-highest mountain in India, after Kangchenjunga, and the highest located entirely within the country (Kangchenjunga is on the border of India and Nepal). The Sharda River, also called Kali River and Mahakali River, originates at Kalapani in the Himalayas at an elevation of in the Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand, India. Kolahoi
Kolahoi Peak (locally called 'Gashe-braer' meaning the goddess of light) is a mountain with a peak elevation of located in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, India. The mountain is the highest mountain in Kashmir Division. Kolahoi Peak is easily accessible through Aru valley and lies in the vicinity of Sonamarg in Ganderbal district. Sickle Moon Peak or Bharanzar Peak () is located in the Kishtwar Himalaya and is the highest summit of the range. It lies in the western Himalayan range, and is north of Brammah massif in Kishtwar, 55 kilometers east of Kishtwar town and 195 kilometers east of Srinagar, the summer capital of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
