List Of UK Top-ten Singles In 2006
The UK Singles Chart is one of many music charts compiled by the Official Charts Company that calculates the best-selling singles of the week in the United Kingdom. Since 2004 the chart has been based on the sales of both physical singles and digital downloads, with airplay figures excluded from the official chart. This list shows singles that peaked in the Top 10 of the UK Singles Chart during 2006, as well as singles which peaked in 2005 but were in the top 10 in 2006. The entry date is when the song appeared in the top 10 for the first time (week ending, as published by the Official Charts Company, which is six days after the chart is announced). One-hundred and sixty-nine singles were in the top ten in 2006. Nine singles from 2005 remained in the top 10 for several weeks at the beginning of the year. " When I'm Gone" by Eminem was the only song from 2005 to reach its peak in 2006. Forty-two artists scored multiple entries in the top 10 in 2006. Amy Winehouse, Fall Out B ...

Three Lions
"Three Lions" is a song by the English comedians David Baddiel and Frank Skinner and the rock band the Lightning Seeds. It was released on 20 May 1996 to mark the England football team's participation in that year's UEFA European Championship, which England was hosting. The music was written by the Lightning Seeds singer Ian Broudie, while Baddiel and Skinner—presenters of the football comedy show ''Fantasy Football League''—provided the lyrics. All three provided vocals. The title comes from the England team emblem. Both the original version of "Three Lions" and the updated "Three Lions '98" reached number one on the UK Singles Chart, becoming one of only three songs to top the British charts more than once with lyric variants; the others are "Mambo No. 5" (in versions by Lou Bega and Bob the Builder) and "Do They Know It's Christmas?" (by Band Aid, Band Aid 20 and Band Aid 30). It regularly reappears in the UK singles chart around major football tournaments involving ...

Fairytale Of New York
"Fairytale of New York" is a song written by Jem Finer and Shane MacGowan and recorded by their London-based band the Pogues, featuring singer-songwriter Kirsty MacColl on vocals. The song is an Irish folk-style ballad and was written as a duet, with the Pogues' singer MacGowan taking the role of the male character and MacColl the female character. It was originally released as a single on 23 November 1987 and later featured on the Pogues' 1988 album ''If I Should Fall from Grace with God''. Originally begun in 1985, the song had a troubled two-year development history, undergoing rewrites and aborted attempts at recording, and losing its original female vocalist along the way, before finally being completed in August 1987. Although the single has never been the UK Christmas number one, being kept at number two on its original release in 1987 by the Pet Shop Boys' cover of " Always on My Mind", it has proved enduringly popular with both music critics and the public: to date, ...

Content The song's lyrics tell a story narrated from the point of view of a concerned individual who is approached by a scantily-clad girl, heavily implied to be a prostitute; he then observes a "scummy man" who has been hanging around the neighbourhood; the man is implied to be either the prostitute's pimp or a 'client' who is picking her up for sex. List Of Christmas Number One Singles (UK)
In the United Kingdom, Christmas number ones are singles that top the UK Singles Chart in the week in which Christmas Day falls. The singles have often been novelty songs, charity songs or songs with a Christmas theme. Historically, the volume of record sales in the UK has peaked at Christmas. The Christmas number one is considered especially prestigious, more so than any other time of year. Christmas number-one singles have often also been the best-selling song of the year, though in recent years they have been released by reality television contestants and charity efforts. Due to the common practice of dating a chart by the date on which the week ends, the Christmas chart is dated the end of the week containing 25 December. The most recent Christmas number one single is "Food Aid" by LadBaby. History The UK Singles Chart began in 1952 – appearing in the ''New Musical Express''. The positions of all songs are based on weekly sales (from Sunday to Saturday until 2015, then ...

Timbaland's first full credit production work was in 1996 on '' Ginuwine...the Bachelor'' for R&B singer Ginuwine. Further work on Aaliyah's second studio album '' One in a Million'' (1996) and Missy Elliott's debut studio album ''Supa Dupa Fly'' (1997) made him a prominent producer for R&B and hip hop artists. As a rapper he initially released several albums with fellow rapper Magoo, followed by his debut solo album '' Tim's Bio'' in 1998. In 2002, Timbaland produced the hit single ...
