The UK Albums Chart is one of many music charts compiled by the Official Charts Company that calculates the best-selling albums of the week in the United Kingdom. Since 2004 the chart has been based on the sales of both physical albums and digital downloads. This list shows albums that peaked in the Top 10 of the UK Albums Chart during 2017, as well as albums which peaked in 2016 and 2018 but were in the top 10 in 2017. The entry date is when the album appeared in the top 10 for the first time (week ending, as published by the Official Charts Company, which is six days after the chart is announced). One-hundred and ninety-five albums were in the top 10 this year. One album from 2015 and twelve albums from 2016 remained in the top 10 for several weeks at the beginning of the year. ''Safe in Sound'' is the fifth and final studio album by British rock band Lower Than Atlantis. Following the release of ''Changing Tune'' (2012), Island Records were streamlining and dropping artists who were underselling. Despite the album underselling, the group couldn't be dropped as the label had picked the option for their next album. The label offered the band the chance to take an advance and leave, which they subsequently did to build a personal studio. Here, the group worked on their next album, ''Lower Than Atlantis'', which was released through Sony Music and supported by successful tours. Lower Than Atlantis were an English rock band from Watford, Hertfordshire. They formed in 2007 as a hardcore punk band and gradually shifted into a rock sound over five studio albums, their last being 2017's '' Safe in Sound''. The band consisted of vocalist, guitarist and songwriter Mike Duce, bassist Declan Hart, drummer Eddy Thrower, and guitarist Ben Sansom. Sampha Lahai Sisay (born 16 November 1988) is an English singer, songwriter, musician and record producer from Morden, South London. Sampha is widely known for his collaborative work with Kendrick Lamar, SBTRKT, Jessie Ware, Drake, Kanye West, Solange and others. ''Heavy Fire'' is the third studio album by hard rock band Black Star Riders, released on February 3, 2017. Black Star Riders evolved from the touring version of Thin Lizzy, assembled by guitarist Scott Gorham after the death of Thin Lizzy's leader Phil Lynott. The band's first two albums, '' All Hell Breaks Loose'' and ''The Killer Instinct'', were released in 2013 and 2015 respectively. Black Star Riders is a hard rock band formed in December 2012. The band began when members of the most recent line-up of Thin Lizzy decided to record new material, but chose not to release it under the Thin Lizzy name. While Thin Lizzy continues on an occasional basis, Black Star Riders is a full-time band, described as "the next step in the evolution of the Thin Lizzy story". Richard Kylea Cowie Jr. MBE (born 19 January 1979), better known by his stage name Wiley (formerly Wiley Kat), is a British grime MC, rapper, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Bow, London.
