List Of UCF Knights Men's Basketball Seasons
This is a list of seasons completed by the UCF Knights basketball team since the team's formation in 1969. Since that season, the Knights have played over 1,100 regular-season games, winning five conference tournament championships and seven regular season championships. The Knights are a member of the American Athletic Conference (The American), and their current head coach is Johnny Dawkins, who is in his third year with the team. The Knights play their home games at CFE Arena, which is located on the main campus of UCF in Orlando, Florida. The University of Central Florida first fielded a varsity basketball team in the fall of 1969 under Torchy Clark. Clark completed 14 seasons as the Knights head coach, amassing a 274–89 record. Clark did not amass a single losing season during his 14-year career, and led the Knights to the Division II Final Four in 1978. UCF Arena
Addition Financial Arena (formerly known as CFE Arena and UCF Arena) is a sports and entertainment arena located in Orlando, Florida, United States, on the main campus of the University of Central Florida. It was constructed beginning in 2006 as a replacement for the original UCF arena, and as a part of Knights Plaza. The arena is home to the UCF Knights men's and women's basketball teams. The arena also hosted the annual Science Olympiad in 2012 and 2014. The arena is and boasts a capacity of over 9,400 for basketball, and has 17 luxury suites. As of January 2022, the attendance record for the arena is 10,011, the arena's first and only ever sellout crowd, for a March 22, 2017 NIT Quarterfinals matchup with the Illinois Fighting Illini. Donnie Jones (basketball)
Donald Isaac Jones Sr. (born July 7, 1966) is an American college basketball coach and former college basketball player. He is currently the men's head basketball coach at Stetson Hatters men's basketball, Stetson University. Prior to Stetson, Jones served as the head coach of the UCF Knights men's basketball team from 2010 to 2016 and at Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball, Marshall from 2007–2010. After spending three years as head coach at Marshall Thundering Herd men's basketball, Marshall, amassing a 55–41 record, Jones was hired by UCF after the university decided not to retain Kirk Speraw for the 2010–11 season. Before Marshall, Jones was an assistant with the Florida Gators for 11 seasons, and was hired by Marshall after he helped Billy Donovan coach the Gators to consecutive national championships in 2006 and 2007. 1996 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1996 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 14, 1996, and ended with the championship game on April 1 at Continental Airlines Arena (now known as Izod Center) in the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A total of 63 games were played. The Final Four venue was notable for several reasons: *This marked the first time that the NCAA finals had been held in Greater New York since 1950. *This was also the last (men's) Final Four to be held in a basketball/hockey-specific facility. 1994 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 1994 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 17, 1994, and ended with the championship game on April 4 in Charlotte, North Carolina, played at Charlotte Coliseum. A total of 63 games were played. The Final Four consisted of Arkansas, making their fifth trip and first since 1990, Arizona, making their second ever trip and first since 1988, Florida, making their first ever trip, and Duke, making their sixth trip in the last seven tournaments. Sun Belt Conference
The Sun Belt Conference (SBC) is a collegiate athletic conference that has been affiliated with the NCAA's Division I since 1976. Originally a non-football conference, the Sun Belt began sponsoring football in 2001. Its football teams participate in the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). The 14 member institutions of the Sun Belt are distributed primarily across the southern United States. 1977–78 FTU Knights Men's Basketball Team
The 1977–78 UCF Knights, FTU Knights UCF Knights men's basketball, men's basketball team was an NCAA Division II college basketball team that represented Florida Technological University, now named the University of Central Florida. The Knights competed in the Sunshine State Conference (SSC), and played their home games in the university's UCF Knights men's basketball#Home courts, education gymnasium on FTU's main campus in Orlando, Florida. The team was led by head coach Torchy Clark who was in his ninth season with the team. In the previous year, the Knights finished the season 24–4, 8–2 in SSC play.
