Syfy Universal (France)
Syfy is the French-speaking 24-hour science fiction entertainment channel based on the US version of the same name. The channel originally launched in December 2005 under the branding of the Sci-fi Channel. It became the fourth "Sci Fi Channel" alongside channels in the United States, UK and Germany. The channel was rebranded Syfy on January 5, 2010 as part of global rebrand. Some years later, it was changed for SYFY on August 29, 2017 as part of another global rebrand. 2010 Rebrand Sci-fi was rebranded as Syfy since January 5 2010 (formerly known as Sci Fi in France). The channel rebranding coincides with NBC Universal Global Networks rebranding campaign which initially started in the US in July 1999. Ownership Syfy is one of two channels operating in France under ownership of General Electric's NBC Universal Global Networks network. Farscape
''Farscape'' is an Australian-American science fiction television series, produced originally for the Nine Network. It premiered in the US on Sci-Fi Channel's SciFi Friday, 19 March 1999, at 8:00 pm EST as their anchor series. The series was conceived by Rockne S. O'Bannon and produced by The Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment. The Jim Henson Company was responsible for the various alien make-up and prosthetics, and two regular characters (the animatronic puppets Rygel and Pilot) are entirely Creature Shop creations. Although the series was planned for five seasons, it was abruptly cancelled after production had ended on its fourth season, ending the series on a cliffhanger. Co-producer Brian Henson later secured the rights to ''Farscape'', paving the way for a three-hour miniseries to wrap up the cliffhanger, titled '' Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars'', which Henson directed. ''Painkiller Jane'' is an American-Canadian science fiction and action television series based on the comic book character of the same name. Airing on the Sci Fi Channel in the US starting April 13, 2007 and Global in Canada, it starred Kristanna Loken as the title character. The show was canceled after one season of 22 episodes. Plot The series stars Loken as Jane Vasco. She begins as a DEA agent, where in the course of her work she encounters Andre McBride ( Rob Stewart), who is the leader of a team of agents working for an unspecified government agency.
