TLC is a Swedish television channel. Its primary target is women between 25 and 49. It launched on 2 December 2010, replacing Discovery Travel & Living Europe in Sweden. It is the second dedicated Swedish channel from Discovery Networks after Discovery Channel Sweden. Prior to the launch of the dedicated TLC channel for Sweden, its predecessors had been available in Sweden for over a decade. Following Discovery's acquisition of SBS Nordic in 2013, TLC Sweden became a part of SBS Discovery Media with five dedicated TV channels for Sweden. Discovery Channel (Swedish TV Channel)
Discovery Channel (often referred to as simply Discovery) is the Swedish language version of the Discovery Channel, using a "factual entertainment" concept similar to the original American channel. As of 2006, it was the eighth most watched channel in Sweden (MMS). The channel used to broadcast the same schedule as the other Discovery channels in the Nordic countries, but with Swedish language presentation, advertising and subtitles. In spring 2007, the Swedish channel differentiated itself from the Nordic sister channels and started using Swedish voice-overs in the programmes and a schedule specially adapted for the Swedish market. Kanal 11 (formerly TV11 and before that TV400) is a conditional access, entertainment channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery EMEA. Its target audience is younger people and it almost solely broadcasts entertainment programmes. The channel was launched in January 2005 to replace the interactive Mediteve channel that occupied the same space. Programming on the channel consists of action and drama series, reality series, movies and comedy. Kanal 11 also features some original programming and programmes connected to shows on TV4, such as Idol. The channel is broadcast by satellite, cable, IPTV and on the digital terrestrial network. Kanal 9 (''Channel 9'') is a Swedish free-to-air television channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. It targets the 25-59 age group, which is a slightly older age group than the sister channel Kanal 5. The channel launched on 25 February 2007. Its opening night featured the 79th Academy Awards. The programming consists of drama series, movies, sports and documentaries. History Kanal 9 uses the space formerly occupied by ONE Television in the terrestrial network. This caused some controversy. A clause in the broadcasting license states that "news from the European Union and programmes from different European countries" should be included in the broadcasts. Kanal 5 (''Channel 5'') is a Swedish television channel that was launched in 1989. It is owned by the US-based media company Warner Bros. Discovery, changing its ownership from ProSiebenSat.1 Media in April 2013. After a troublesome 1990s, Kanal 5 launched new strategies in the early 2000s (decade) that established it as a popular entertainment channel targeting young people. V Sport Hockey is a sports channel that is broadcasting from the United Kingdom, primarily targeting Sweden but also available in Finland and Norway. Broadcasting was commenced on 1 September 2009, at the start of the 2009 ice hockey season. The channel focuses on the KHL, HockeyAllsvenskan, Kvalserien, Ice Hockey World Championships and NHL. V Sport Football is a Swedish television channel dedicated to football. The channel was launched on October 17, 2008, and became the primary home to most of Viasat's football broadcasts, which at the time included ''UEFA Champions League'', the ''FA Cup'', ''Ligue 1'' and ''Premier League''. V Sport is a group of Sweden, Swedish sports channels owned by Viaplay Group, broadcasting from the United Kingdom and constituting a part of the pan-Nordic V Sport offering. The Swedish V Sport channels except V Sport Motor and V Sport Extra are also distributed in Finland. History The channel was launched in 1999 as a pan-Scandinavian channel. TV10 (''TV tio'') is a television channel owned by Viaplay Group broadcasting to Sweden. It specializes in sports and documentaries. The channel started broadcasting on 7 September 2010. Until the start, the channel is available from several operators such as Boxer, Comhem, Telia, Tele2 and Viasat.
