Karlsborg Anti-Aircraft Regiment
Karlsborg Anti-Aircraft Regiment ( sv, Karlsborgs luftvärnsregemente), also Lv 1, was a Swedish Army anti-aircraft unit that was active in various forms between 1937–1961. The unit was based in Karlsborg. History Karlsborg Anti-Aircraft Regiment was raised on 1 July 1937, by reorganizing Karlsborg Artillery Regiment into an anti-aircraft regiment. This was due to the fact that, among other things, the anti-aircraft defense was awarded a more independent position in the artillery. Karlsborg Anti-Aircraft Regiment was a leading unit in the development of Swedish anti-aircraft defense, but together with Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment also became the parent unit for all Swedish anti-aircraft units. That is, it was from the two regiments that the other anti-aircraft units were formed. On 1 October 1942, the anti-aircraft defense was separated from the artillery and formed an independent branch. Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment
Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment ( sv, Östgöta luftvärnsregemente), also Lv 2, was a Swedish Army anti-aircraft unit that was active in various forms between 1938–1962. The unit was based in Linköping. History The Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment was raised on 1 October 1939, but already a year earlier, on 1 October 1938, a preparatory organization had been formed, which was added to the eastern barracks at the twin establishment in Linköping. The barracks had originally been built in 1922 for the 2nd Life Grenadier Regiment (I 5), which was later disbanded. The first conscripts in the regiment moved in on 9 March 1939, and were distributed on four anti-aircraft batteries. Through the Defence Act of 1936, the air defense took on a more independent role in the artillery, which resulted in, among other things, a number of anti-aircraft divisions being organized. Gotland Anti-Aircraft Corps
Gotland Anti-Aircraft Corps ( sv, Gotlands luftvärnskår), also Lv 2, was a Swedish Army anti-aircraft unit that was active in various forms between 1944–2000. The unit was based in Visby on Gotland. History Gotland's air defence has its origins in the Stockholm Anti-Aircraft Regiment's (Lv 3) artillery battery detachment on Gotland (Lv 3 G), established in 1944. When Stockholm Anti-Aircraft Regiment moved to Norrtälje in 1953, the responsibility for the artillery battery on Gotland was transferred to Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment (Lv 2) in Linköping and thus the unit received the designation Lv 2 G. Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Regiment was disbanded in 1962. Lv 2 G took over its ensign and traditions on 2 April. On 1 April 1963, Lv 2 G became the new Lv 2. Roslagen Anti-Aircraft Corps
Roslagen Anti-Aircraft Corps ( sv, Roslagens luftvärnskår), also Lv 3, was a Swedish Army anti-aircraft unit that was active in various forms 1939–2000. The unit was based in Norrtälje. History The unit was raised on 1 October 1939 in Stockholm as the Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment's Detachment in Stockholm (A 10 S). On 1 October 1941, the detachment was separated from the Östgöta Anti-Aircraft Artillery Regiment and became an independent unit under the name of Stockholm Anti-Aircraft Regiment (A 11). As part of the Defence Act of 1942, the regiment was transferred in 1942 to the newly formed air defence military branch (''Luftvärnstrupperna'') as the Stockholm Anti-Aircraft Regiment (Lv 3). One battery from the regiment was detached to Gotland in 1944 under the designation Lv 3 G. Air Defence Regiment (Sweden)
The Air Defence Regiment ( sv, Luftvärnsregementet, Lv 6), is the only anti-aircraft regiment in the Swedish Armed Forces. Its new organisation was introduced in 2000, when all other anti-aircraft units in Sweden were disbanded. The regiment is located in Halmstad and has the responsibility for training two air defence battalions and one home guard battalion.
