This is a list in alphabetical order of cricketers who have played for Sussex County Cricket Club in top-class matches since it was founded in 1839. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Ragheb Aga
Ragheb Gul Aga (born 10 July 1984) is a Kenyan cricketer, who played as an all-rounder for Kenya in ODIs and T20Is and for Sussex in English domestic cricket. Bill Athey
Charles William Jeffrey Athey (born 27 September 1957) is a retired English first-class cricketer, who played for England, and first-class cricket for Gloucestershire, Yorkshire and Sussex; he also played a solitary one-day game for Worcestershire. His bulldog spirit was exemplified by the Union Jack tattooed on his arm. He played in 23 Test matches between 1980 and 1988, but scored more than 50 runs only five times in 41 innings. In 1990, Athey joined the rebel tour to South Africa. Domestic career He made his debut for his native Yorkshire in 1976, before moving to Gloucestershire in 1984. He captained the side in 1989, and scored four hundreds in successive innings while there. Syed Ashar Ahmed Zaidi ( ur, ; born 13 July 1981) is a Pakistani first-class cricketer. Zaidi is a left-handed batsman and left-arm orthodox spin bowler who is considered an all-rounder. Geoff Arnold
Geoffrey Graham Arnold (born 3 September 1944) is an English cricketer who played 34 Test matches and 14 One Day Internationals for the England cricket team. His nickname of "Horse" was based on his initials of GG. He was a seam and swing bowler, who finished his first-class cricket career, which lasted from 1963 to 1982, with 1130 wickets at an average of 21.91. He played for Surrey and Sussex, winning the County Championship with the former county in 1971. He was a ''Wisden'' Cricketer of the Year in 1972. Jofra Chioke Archer (born 1 April 1995) is a Barbadian-born English cricketer representing England and Sussex. He is a right-arm fast bowler. In April 2019, Archer was selected to play for the England team in limited overs fixtures against Ireland and Pakistan. James Anyon
James Edward Anyon (born 5 May 1983) is a former cricketer who played for Sussex. Anyon was born in Lancaster, Lancashire, and was educated in Lancashire before going to Loughborough University, where Warwickshire spotted him playing for the university. He made his debut for the Bears against Somerset in April 2005 and played fairly often throughout the season, a season which included a hat-trick which helped the Bears to beat Somerset in a Twenty20 game. He spent time on loan at Surrey in the 2009 season after losing his place in the Warwickshire side and signed a two-year deal with Sussex in November 2009.
