Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka (, ; si, ශ්රී ලංකා, Śrī Laṅkā, translit-std=ISO (); ta, இலங்கை, Ilaṅkai, translit-std=ISO ()), formerly known as Ceylon and officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in South Asia. Chitral Somapala
Peragaswatte Chandana Chitral Somapala (born 4 November 1966: si, චිත්රාල් සෝමපාල), aka Chity Somapala, is a Sri Lankan hard rock and heavy metal vocalist and a music director. He is known for his work with European power metal bands Firewind, Power Quest, Avalon, Faro, Red Circuit, and Civilization One. Somapala gained popularity in his home country due to his Sinhala track "Nadee Ganga" which was released in 1998. Personal life Chandana Chitral Somapala was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 4 November 1966. His parents, Peragaswatte Liyana Acharige Somapala and Chithra née Perera, were musicians, music directors and producers. Mohammed Gauss
Mohammed Gauss also known as Mohamed Ghouse ( Sinhala: මොහොමඩ් ගවුස්), was a Sri Lankan film music composer. His compositions for Sinhala cinema in the 1950s are credited by music critics as having been influential in developing a Sri Lankan style of film composition distinct from that of Indian films. Career He came to Sri Lanka to provide music for Nurthi dramas under the invitation of popular Sri Lankan dramatist John de Silva. Gauss Master worked for the Columbia Records Company. Although Gauss was keen to compose Sinhala songs using lyrics to Indian songs, he soon turned to composing solo songs. He did that experiment with the songs he composed for the film ''Ashokamala''. At the moment, Gauss recognized Mohideen Baig and Albert Perera (later became W. D. Amaradeva). Baig and Amaradeva went to India with Gauss Master to record songs. Gunadasa Kapuge
Ellamulla Kapuge Gunadasa ( Sinhala: ගුණදාස කපුගේ; 7 August 1945–3 April 2003) popularly known as Gunadasa Kapuge, was a Sri Lankan singer, musician, music director and playback singer. He was well known among Sri Lankans due to the philosophical background of his music renditions and lyrics selected for his work. Personal life Kapuge was born on August 7, 1945 in the tiny village of Thanabaddegama in Elpitiya. His father was Ellalamulla Kapuge Francis and mother was Dona Alice Nona Siribaddana. Being the second of eight siblings, he attended Karandeniya Central College up to grade five and the latter part at Dharmasoka College in Ambalangoda, where he initially studied science before switching to music. Gresha Schuilling
Gresha Schulling (born 1983, Colombo) is a Sri Lankan musician. She has been hailed as a rising star in the world of popular music in South Asia. She comes from a distinguished musical family from Sri Lanka. Gresha was educated in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the Continental School, and in Sri Lanka. She took to music while she was in Saudi Arabia and even won a 'battle of the bands' contest in her school. When she returned to Sri Lanka she decided to follow her in popular music after she completed her GCE Advanced Levels. Cold Cold Night Christmas Single Gresha has recorded her debut Christmas single 'Cold Cold Night.' Haupe Liyanage Athukorala Morris Joseph Ranabahu, (born 18 May 1938 – died 29 October 2001: si, ෆේරඩී සිල්වා), popularly as Freddie Silva, was a Sri Lankan film actor, and playback singer, who appeared from 1973 until 2002. Freddie was known for being one of the most popular Sri Lankan comedians of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He appeared in over 400 films and Produced 2 films, of which 300 were screened at the celebration of fifty years in Sinhala Cinema. Jayakody Arachchige Don Edward Timothy Jayakody ( Sinhala:එඩ්වඩ් ජයකොඩි: born 6 April 1952), popularly as Edward Jayakody, is a Sri Lankan musician, singer and composer. Jayakody has directed the music for hundreds of Sinhala films and television serials and has also composed many songs for children's programming ("Koppara Koppara"). Jayakody won the Swarna Sanka Award in 1987 for Best Male Singer for the film ''Gedara Budun Amma''. Wanniaarachchige Don David Victor Jayamanne, Order of the British Empire, MBE (15 February 1915 – 25 July 1981), popularly known as Eddie Jayamanne was a popular Sri Lankan comedian and actor of early Sri Lankan cinema. Dhanith Sri ( si, ධනිත් ශ්රී) (born 22 December 1994) is a Sri Lankan singer, composer and songwriter. He is considered one of the most popular artists in Sri Lanka. Dhanith entered the mainstream music industry with his 2018 hit "''Pandama''".
