The term "Cinema of Korea" (or "Korean cinema") encompasses the motion picture industries of North and South Korea. As with all aspects of Korean life during the past century, the film industry has often been at the mercy of political events, from the late Joseon dynasty to the Korean War to domestic governmental interference. While both countries have relatively robust film industries today, only South Korean films have achieved wide international acclaim. North Korean films tend to portray their communist or revolutionary themes. South Korean films enjoyed a "Golden age" during the late 1950s, and 1960s, but by the 1970s had become generally considered to be of low quality. Attack On The Pin-Up Boys
''Attack on the Pin-Up Boys'', also known as ''Flower Boys' Series of Terror Events'' or simply ''Flower Boys'' (), is a 2007 South Korean high school mystery comedy film, and is the first film produced by SM Pictures, a subsidiary of SM Entertainment. It is also the first full-length film directed by Lee Kwon. The film stars all members of the boy band Super Junior, with the exception of Kyuhyun who was injured and still recovering from a car accident on 19 April 2007. The story centres around a series of attacks on popular high school students or commonly called flower boys that occurred on the 14th of each month, which started on Valentine's Day. Some students — Kibum (played by Kim Ki-bum) and Donghae (played by Lee Dong-hae) — decide to investigate the incidents and find the culprit, while some targeted students; Heechul (played by Kim Hee-chul) and Kangin (played by Kim Young-woon) try to bait the culprit into attacking them so as to raise their popularity. Beyond The Years
''Beyond the Years'' () is a 2007 South Korean drama film. Celebrating director Im Kwon-taek's 100th film, it is based on the short fiction "The Wanderer of Seonhak-dong" by Lee Cheong-jun, and was presented at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival. Despite being an informal sequel to Im's phenomenally successful ''Sopyonje'' (1993), ''Beyond the Years'' was not popular with Korean audiences. Synopsis Dong-ho and Song-hwa are separately adopted by Yu-bong (Im Jin-taek), a nomadic singer, and grow up as siblings. Dong-ho falls in love with Song-hwa, but he suffers from the fact that he has to call her sister and constantly fight with Yu-bong's obsession to make her a great singer. Lee Hyun-woo, born Lee Sang-won (March 6, 1966), also known as Jessie Lee, is a Korean-American singer and actor. Career Lee Hyun-woo made his entertainment debut in 1991 with the album ''Black Rainbow'' and rose to fame with hit songs such as "Dream" and "Day After the Break-up." He later transitioned into acting, appearing in television dramas such as ''Cats on the Roof'' (2003), ''Wedding'' (2005), ''Dal-ja's Spring'' (2007) and ''Oh! Kim Bo-kyung (3 April 1976 – 2 February 2021) was a South Korean actress. She made her acting debut in 1995, and appeared in both television and film, notably ''Friend'' (2001), ''Epitaph'' (2007), ''Paju'' (2009) and ''The Day He Arrives ''The Day He Arrives'' (; lit. Park Yong-woo (; born March 16, 1971) is a South Korean actor. Early life Park Yong-woo's father was an engineering professor and his mother was a music teacher. Ahn Sung-ki (born January 1, 1952) is a South Korean actor. One of the country's most respected actors, he has appeared in more than 130 films during his career of over 60 years. Career A native of Seoul, Ahn was the son of a veteran filmmaker and producer and started out as a child actor, appearing in director Kim Ki-young's celebrated film '' The Housemaid'' (1960).
