Side Project
In popular music, a side project is a project undertaken by one or more people already known for their involvement in another band. It can also be an artist or a band temporarily switching to a different style. Usually these projects emphasize a different aspect of that person's or that band's musical interests that they feel they cannot explore within the boundaries established by their main project. Peter Hartlaub of ''San Francisco Chronicle'' called the solo side project "the biggest longshot bet in mainstream music". ''The New York Times'' described the side project as "a break from the other band members, a chance to toy with different genres and recording methods, a fling with no long-term commitment". There can be aesthetic reasons to pursue side projects, and side projects can have the benefit of protecting indie credibility. Overview O ...

Furnace (Download Album)
''Furnace'' is the first album released by the industrial music group Download. Released on Cleopatra Records in 1995, it is dedicated to Dwayne Goettel, who co-wrote the album but died before its release. The album's cover has the distinction of being among the first to make use of Lenticular printing. After being out of print for years, Cevin Key bought the rights to ''Furnace'' from Cleopatra Records and, in 2007, re-released the album through his own label, Subconscious Communications, as part of the "''From The Vault II''" subscription series under the title ''Furnace Re:Dux'' in a limited edition of 1000. This re-issue was advertised as remastered but was in fact the same master as the original release. It did however feature a bonus disc of 8 jam sessions which were the basis of the tracks that would eventually make their way onto ''Furnace''. The re-issue is now also out of print.http://www.subconsciousrecords.com/catalog.html Track listing Re:Dux Personnel * Dwa ...

Biography Having started his career as a drummer and eventually as a programmer, he became a remix engineer starting in the mid-1990s. His friendship with Dwayne Goettel led to him doing a small amount of keyboard work on the Skinny Puppy album '' The Process'', as well as creating the Subconscious record label with Goettel in 1993. After Goettel's death from a heroin overdose in 1995, he became partners with Cevin Key in several musical projects. As an engineer, or remix engineer, he had worked with Skinny Puppy, Mirror, Bryan Adams, and Nine Inch Nails. He also assisted in remixes of songs written by Monster Magnet and Rob Halford and Metallica among others. Often maintaining a low visibility in his collaborative projects, it was his solo work which brought his abilities to l ...
