The Scotland national football team is the joint-oldest international football team, having played in the first official international match, a goalless draw on 30 November 1872 against England. Since then, the team has established a long-standing rivalry with England, particularly in the annual British Home Championship, which Scotland won 24 times outright and shared a further 17 times. The team has enjoyed less success in continental and global competition. Even though Scotland has participated in eight FIFA World Cup and three UEFA European Championship final tournaments, the team has never progressed beyond the first round of any major tournament. Kenny Dalglish, the only man to have won more than 100 caps for Scotland, was the only Scottish player named in the FIFA 100. John Winton Brown (born in May 1946) is a Scottish football commentator. He also served as general manager of Scottish club Celtic from 1997 to 1998. Early life Brown was born in Kilmarnock in May 1946. He is the younger brother of former Scotland and Aberdeen F.C. manager Craig Brown. Robert Neilson Brown (19 August 1870 – 17 August 1943), sometimes misidentified as J. Brown, was a Scottish association football, footballer whose career included periods at Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton Wanderers. Club career Brown was born in Port Eglinton in the south of Glasgow, but moved with his family to Halfway, South Lanarkshire, Halfway, a district of Cambuslang, during his childhood. Thomas McLean Jr. (born 2 June 1947) is a Scottish former professional football player and manager. McLean played for Kilmarnock, Rangers and Scotland as a midfielder. He managed Morton, Motherwell, Hearts, Raith Rovers and Dundee United. Early life McLean was born and grew up in Ashgill, Lanarkshire, along with his elder brothers Jim and Willie, who would also become successful players and managers. John Hunter (1854 – 2 November 1881) was a Scottish footballer who played for Third Lanark, Glasgow Eastern and Scotland (four caps). He played on the losing side in the Scottish Cup finals of 1876 and 1878, and made several representative appearances for Glasgow. After retiring as a player, Hunter coached Linthouse. The Hong Kong League XI, also known as the Hong Kong XI or Hong Kong League Selection, is a football team which represents the Hong Kong First Division League in exhibition matches, mainly the Lunar New Year Cup. The team is selected from the top players in the Hong Kong First Division League. Both Hong Kong and foreign players, including those from mainland China, can be included in the team. James Connor (1 June 1909 – 8 May 1980) was a Scottish footballer who played for Sunderland and the Scotland national football team as an outside left. He was born in Renfrew, Scotland. Club career He made his debut for Sunderland against Manchester City on 30 August 1930 in a 3–3 draw at Roker Park. His Sunderland career lasted from 1930 to 1939, although the later years were halted due to a severe injury in 1937, and he never fully recovered. The injury also caused him to miss the 1937 FA Cup Final and he retired in 1939. In total, he had made 254 league appearances for Sunderland, scoring 49 goals. Peter Campbell (late 1850s – January 1883) was a Scottish footballer, who was one of the four founding members of Rangers Football Club. He made 24 Scottish Cup appearances for Rangers and scored 15 goals. Club career Along with fellow founding members Peter McNeil, Moses McNeil and William McBeath, Campbell played in Rangers' first ever match against Callander F.C. at ''Flesher's Haugh'', Glasgow Green in 1872.
