List Of San Jose Earthquakes Seasons
San Jose Earthquakes is a soccer team based in San Jose, California, that competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), the most senior soccer league in the United States. San Jose Earthquakes was established as the San Jose Clash in 1994 becoming a founding member of MLS where they competed starting in 1996. The team rebranded and changed their name in 2000 to San Jose Earthquakes, connecting them with the former professional team that played in San Jose from 1974 to 1988. The franchise was moved at the conclusion of the 2005 MLS season to Houston to become the Houston Dynamo, thus putting the team and its records on hiatus. The team was revived two years later as an MLS expansion franchise, beginning play in 2008. In addition to the MLS season, San Jose also competes in the annual U.S. Open Cup tournament. Depending on the team's performance in these two competitions, they may also qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs in the same year and the CONCACAF Champions League the following year. ...

The San Jose Earthquakes are an American professional soccer team based in San Jose, California. The Earthquakes compete as a member club of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). Originally as the San Jose Clash, the franchise began play in 1996 as one of the charter members of the league. The Earthquakes took part in the first game in MLS history, defeating D.C. United 1–0. The Earthquakes have won two MLS Cup titles (2001, 2003) and two Supporters' Shields (2005, 2012). In 2002, the team played in its first CONCACAF Champions Cup (now called the CONCACAF Champions League), making it to the quarterfinals. Major League Soccer is the premier professional soccer league in the United States and Canada. Competition began in 1996 and attendance has grown rapidly since the early 2000s, making it one of the fastest-growing sports leagues in the world. The average attendance of 21,692 in 2016 was a 57% increase over the 13,756 average in 2000. The total attendance of 7,375,144 in 2016 is more than triple the 2,215,019 total of 2002. 1999 San Jose Clash Season
The 1999 San Jose Clash season was the fourth season of the team's existence. The San Jose Clash were purchased and owned by the Kraft Group Sports on November 18, 1999. San Jose revamped their roster for the 1999 season adding an influx of youth utilizing the draft with Jamie Clark, Jimmy Conrad, Scott Bower, Caleb Porter, Maxi Viera, Carlos Farias and Anthony Farace. They also picked up Joe Cannon, Leighton O'Brien, Adam Frye and Joey Martinez. The team set an MLS best in shootouts with 11 wins in 1999. 1998 San Jose Clash Season
The 1998 San Jose Clash season was the third season of the team's existence. About The 1998 season was one of excitement tempered by frustration. Quinn led the team to a 13–19 record, good for 33 points in MLS. San Jose was forced to play the first three home games of the season at Stanford University after winter rains delayed the renovation on Spartan Stadium. When the club returned to Spartan, they faced the New England Revolution May 3, 1998 on a newly widened field that was 70 yards wide and 110 yards long. Ronald Cerritos again led the team, putting in 13 goals to finish the season as the eighth leading goal-scorer in the league. During the 1998 season the pieces of the eventual 2001 MLS Cup Champions began to form at Spartan Stadium. Ronald Cerritos
Ronald Osvaldo Cerritos Flores (born January 3, 1975, in San Salvador) is a Salvadoran former professional footballer who played as a striker. Cerritos is the all-time leader in assists of the Major League Soccer team, the San Jose Earthquakes, with 47. Club career Cerritos has spent the bulk of his career playing in MLS, being signed by the league on March 21, 1997, and allocated to the San Jose Clash. While with San Jose he achieved great success, being named in the MLS Best XI in his first year with the club. In the offseason after 2001, however, Cerritos was traded to the Dallas Burn for Ariel Graziani. He never was able to settle in Dallas, having trouble earning a starting spot, and struggling with injuries. The 1997 San Jose Clash season was the second season of the team's existence. San Jose finished the season in fifth place missing the playoffs for the first time. The season also saw head coach Laurie Calloway replaced by Brian Quinn halfway through the season. Controversy surrounded Eric Wynalda and Laurie Calloway. Tayt Ianni, Mac Cozier, Edumundo Rodriguez and Tom Liner were released halfway through the season when Calloway was replaced. Daniel Guzman played in only three games for the Clash before returning to Mexico. Paul Bravo
Paul Bravo (born June 19, 1968) is an American former soccer player who was most recently head coach of NISA side Oakland Roots SC. He played six seasons in Major League Soccer, two in the American Professional Soccer League and two in the USISL. He also earned four caps, scoring one goal, with the United States men's national soccer team. After his retirement from playing, Bravo served for several years as an assistant coach in both Major League Soccer and the NCAA and was most recently Technical Director for the Colorado Rapids. Youth and college Bravo was a student-athlete at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, California. He then played two years of college soccer at Foothill Community College and winning State Championships and while at Santa Clara University and helped his team to the NCAA co-championship in 1989.
