Royal Yacht Squadron
The Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) is a British yacht club. Its clubhouse is Cowes Castle on the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom. Member yachts are given the suffix RYS to their names, and are permitted (with the appropriate warrant) to wear the White Ensign of the Royal Navy rather than the merchant Red Ensign worn by the majority of other UK registered vessels. The club's patron was Queen Elizabeth II. The Royal Yacht Squadron entered the 2021 America's Cup in Auckland, New Zealand, with the Ineos Team UK syndicate led by Sir Ben Ainslie, but did not win. In March 2021, an entity associated with the RYS, called Royal Yacht Squadron Racing Ltd, was officially accepted as the Challenger of Record for the 37th America's Cup competition. Baron Phillimore, of Shiplake in the Oxfordshire, County of Oxford, is a title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. It was created in 1918 for the former Judge of the High Court of Justice and Lord Justice of Appeal, Walter Phillimore, 1st Baron Phillimore, Sir Walter Phillimore, 2nd Baronet. Ian Macpherson, 3rd Baron Strathcarron
Ian David Patrick Macpherson, 3rd Baron Strathcarron (born 31 March 1949), is a British hereditary peer and member of House of Lords. He is also the baronet Sir Ian David Patrick Macpherson of Drumalban. He inherited the titles on the death of his father David Macpherson, 2nd Baron Strathcarron, on 31 August 2006. Sir David Cecil Clementi (born 25 February 1949) is a British business executive and a former Deputy Governor of the Bank of England. He was formerly the Chairman of the BBC. James Holman (judge)
Sir Edward James Holman (born 21 August 1947) is a retired British judge of the High Court of England and Wales, assigned to the Family Division. He has been the Commodore of the Royal Yacht Squadron since 2021. Legal career Holman was called to the bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and was elected a bencher in 1995. He acted for the Queen's Proctor from 1980–91 and legal assessor for the Central Council for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting (now the Nursing and Midwifery Council) from 1983-95. Holman has served as an officer of the Family Law Bar Association, as secretary 1988–92 and chairman 1992–95. In 1991, he was appointed a Queen's Counsel and a Crown Court Recorder in 1993.
