Board Of Trade
The Board of Trade is a British government body concerned with commerce and industry, currently within the Department for International Trade. Its full title is The Lords of the Committee of the Privy Council appointed for the consideration of all matters relating to Trade and Foreign Plantations, but is commonly known as the Board of Trade, and formerly known as the Lords of Trade and Plantations or Lords of Trade, and it has been a committee of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom. The board has gone through several evolutions, beginning with extensive involvement in colonial matters in the 17th century, to powerful regulatory functions in the Victorian Era and early 20th century. Edmund Campion (historian)
Edmund Campion (born 1933 in Sydney) is an Australian Catholic priest and historian. He was educated at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview and the University of Sydney, where he was editor of the student newspaper Honi Soit in 1953. He completed a Master of Arts at the University of Cambridge and theological studies at the Catholic Institute of Sydney. He was ordained a priest in 1961 and after curacies at several Sydney parishes including St Mary's Cathedral was appointed a lecturer in history at the Catholic Institute of Sydney, later becoming Professor of History there. He spoke against Australian involvement in the Vietnam War and in the 1970s was active in residents' action groups in Woolloomooloo. His books on Australian Catholic History combine a personal point of view with discussions of the wider social context and the impact of Australian Catholics in many fields. Bryan Todd (businessman)
Sir Bryan James Todd (8 September 1902 – 29 May 1987) was one of four brothers who built one of New Zealand's biggest industrial and commercial enterprises. He was an important figure in the development of the New Zealand oil and gas energy industry and, incidentally, in the development of New Zealand tax law. Early life Todd was born in Heriot, Otago in 1902. His grandfather was Charles Todd (1834–1892), a Scottish immigrant who had arrived in New Zealand with his wife, Mary O'Sullivan, in 1870. Charles worked at wool-scouring in Milton and gold-mining at Table Hill, Blue Spur and then Bendigo, all in Otago. In 1884, Charles commenced a fellmongery business at Heriot, Otago. Paul Joseph Ramsay (5 January 1936 – 1 May 2014) was an Australian businessman and philanthropist. Biography Born in Sydney, he grew up in Burradoo in the Southern Highlands, New South Wales. John Kaldor
John William Kaldor (b. 1936 in Budapest) is an Australian art collector, philanthropist, and the founder of Kaldor Public Art Projects. Biography Kaldor was born in Budapest to textile manufacturers Andrew and Vera Kaldor. After a short time in Paris as a refugee, Kaldor moved to Australia in 1949 with his parents and younger brother Andrew. Kaldor was educated at Saint Ignatius' College, Riverview, studied in the United Kingdom, and attended the Textile College of Zurich under the direction of Johannes Itten. After working for Universal Textiles, in 1970 he founded his own textile manufacturing company, John Kaldor Fabricmaker, in Australia, which expanded to the United States and the United Kingdom.
