Recreational Aviation Australia
Recreational Aviation Australia (abbreviated to RAA or RAAus), formerly known as the Australian Ultralight Federation (AUF), is the governing body for Ultralight aviation, ultralights in Australia. RAAus registers ultralight aircraft and issues pilot certificates through 170 approved flight training facilities under a delegation from the nation's aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. Mission RAAus' stated mission is: "Accessible, safe aviation for all by being an industry leader in developing sport and recreational aviation for the fun and enjoyment of our members" Membership As of 24 September 2020 RAAus had just under 10,000 voting members and almost 3,500 aircraft registered. Jabiru J-230D Bundaberg Vabre
The jabiru ( or ; ''Jabiru mycteria'') is a large stork found in the Americas from Mexico to Argentina, except west of the Andes. It sometimes wanders into the United States, usually in Texas, but has been reported as far north as Mississippi. It is most common in the Pantanal region of Brazil and the Eastern Chaco region of Paraguay. It is the only member of the genus ''Jabiru''. The name comes from a Tupi–Guaraní language and means "swollen neck". Taxonomy Hinrich Lichtenstein described the jabiru in 1819. The name ''jabiru'' has also been used for two other birds of a distinct genus: black-necked stork (''Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus''), commonly called "jabiru" in Australia; and sometimes also for the saddle-billed stork (''Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis'') of Sub-Saharan Africa. Tube-and-fabric Construction
Tube-and-fabric construction is a method of building airframes, which include the fuselages and wings of airplanes. It consists of making a framework of metal tubes (generally welded together) and then covering the framework with an aircraft fabric covering. The tubes are usually of steel or aluminum. The advantages of tube-and-fabric construction over other methods of airframe construction (such as wood and sheet metal) are lower cost and faster speed of construction. Raj Hamsa Ultralights
Raj Hamsa Ultralights is an Indian private limited company and ultralight aircraft manufacturer, founded in 1980 at Pondicherry, India by Joel Koechlin (of the Koechlin family) of France. The company is one of India's largest aircraft manufacturers and is the only producer of commercial microlight aircraft. It started in 1980 producing hang gliders, introduced powered hang gliders in 1983 and the X-Air line of microlights in 1993. Pipistrel d.o.o Ajdovščina is a Slovenian light aircraft manufacturer established in 1989Or 1989... --> by Ivo Boscarol and based in Ajdovščina. Its facilities are located in Ajdovščina, Slovenia, and near the town of Gorizia, Italy. By March 2019, Pipistrel had produced more than 2000 aircraft. In April 2022, the company was purchased by Textron. History Due to legal restrictions imposed by the Yugoslavian government during the 1980s, the first aircraft was flown secretly in the evening, between dusk and dark. The flying times and triangular shape of the hang-glider style wings earned the aircraft the nickname "bats" which was adopted by the company naming themselves after the Italian word for bat, pipistrello.
