Pobol Y Cwm
''Pobol y Cwm'' (''People of the Valley''; ) is a Welsh-language soap opera produced by the BBC since October 1974. The longest-running television soap opera produced by the BBC, ''Pobol y Cwm'' was originally transmitted on BBC One Wales and later transferred to the Welsh-language station S4C when it opened in November 1982. The programme typically centres around the residents of Cwmderi – a fictional, Welsh speaking, agricultural community. Apart from rugby and football specials, ''Pobol y Cwm'' is consistently the most watched programme of the week on S4C, and in 1994 was briefly shown across the whole of the United Kingdom on BBC Two with English subtitles. On 25 September 2019, the soap hit a significant broadcasting landmark when it aired its 8,000th episode. Lynn Hunter (actress)
Lynn Hunter (born 20 January 1947 in Comox, British Columbia) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1988 to 1993. Her background prior to election included graduating with distinction in Political Science and History from the University of Victoria in 1985. She then went on to become the Vancouver Island Coordinator for OXFAM Canada, work which included a fact finding trip to Sudan and Eritrea in 1986 to assess the effects of the war and famine in that region. Hunter became a New Democratic Party member of Parliament after winning the Saanich—Gulf Islands electoral district in the 1988 federal election. Maria Pride
Maria Pride (born 1970) is a Welsh television actress who plays the recurring character of Debbie Jones in the Welsh Language soap opera ''Pobol y Cwm''. She is a former pupil of Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen, near Pontypridd. In February 1999, she played the character of Cindy, the only female role in the premiere of playwright Patrick Jones' play ''Everything Must Go'', in association with The Manic Street Preachers, at the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff. She also played Triste in Jones' second play, ''Unprotected Sex'', also at the Sherman Theatre.
