Ahmad Rahi
Ahmad Rahi (12 November 1923 – 2 September 2002) was a Punjabi poet and writer from Pakistan. Early life He was born 12 November 1923 in Amritsar, British India. His real name was Ghulam Ahmad, a name given by his spiritual leader Khorsheed Ahmad. He completed his basic early education from Amritsar, India in 1940. After completing his high school, he got admission in M.A.O. College, Lahore but was expelled due to taking part in political movements. After expulsion, he joined his father in his business of selling embroidered wool shawls in the local market. Life and film career in Pakistan After independence of Pakistan in 1947, he migrated to Pakistan and joined the magazine ''Sawera'' as an editor in Lahore. He was paid Rupees 25 as monthly salary back then. Ata Turab
Ata Turab ( ur, ) is a Pakistani poet. He is well known for his poetry about romance and heart. He also studied Persian language from Iran and Arabic. Personal life Turab was born on 7 January 1977 and raised in Islamabad, Pakistan. He studied post graduated in Arabic and Islamic Studies in Iran. Career He has been involved in poetry recitals in the country and his works have been published in major literary magazines of Pakistan and India. He has been a television host on different channels of Pakistan. Turab translated many books from Persian and Arabic to Urdu language. He has also hosted television shows on Pakistan Television Network and Such TV. He has been writing for the last fifteen years. Aslam Farrukhi
Aslam Farrukhi ( ur, ) (23 October 1923 – 15 June 2016) was an Urdu author, literary critic, linguist, scholar, and radio scriptwriter from Pakistan. He is also known for writing children's books. He remained associated as a professor and chairman with the Department of Urdu, University of Karachi, for many years. Early life Aslam Farrukhi was born on 23 October 1923 into a literary family of Lucknow, British India. His ancestors had come to Lucknow from the nearby town Farrukhabad, hence the family name being used here is Farrukhi. After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, he migrated with his family to Karachi, Pakistan in September 1947. He completed his education from the then Federal Urdu College, now known as Federal Urdu University and the University of Karachi. Anwar Masood
Anwar Masood ( ur, , pnb, ); born 8 November 1935) is a Pakistani poet known for his comic poetry. However, his works include other genres as well. He writes in Punjabi, Urdu and Persian languages. His poetry is known for the unique use of everyday, commonplace phrases and wording that is instantly relatable for masses in the region. Numerous of his Punjabi lines and phrases have actually become a figure of speech in everyday conversations. The most prominent feature of his expression is the poignancy buried deep under the humor making his poetry one of its kind. The nuance of tragedy in his poems is a reflection of social injustice, discriminations and personal misfortunes of his characters. Anis Nagi
Anis Nagi (1939–2010) was a Pakistani poet, novelist and critic who lectured at the Government College, Faisalabad and Government College, Lahore. Early life and education Nagi was born in 1939 in the Punjabi city Sheikhupura and studied at Muslim High School No 2 before attending Government College, Lahore and MA in Urdu (First Class First-Gold Medalist) from Punjab University Oriental College. He earned his PhD from the University of the Punjab. Whilst lecturing at Government College, Faisalabad and Government College, Lahore, Nagi passed the Pakistan Civil Service exam and became a member of the 1965 batch, eventually reaching grade 21 before he retired. Amin Fahim
Makhdoom Muhammad Ameen Faheem ( ur, ; ''alt. spelling'': Amin Fahim; 4 August 1939 – 21 November 2015) was a Pakistani populist left-wing figure and a poet. He was the senior vice-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, chairman of Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians and former chairman of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy. Earning Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Sindh in 1961, he started his political activism in 1970 and contested successfully the 1970 general elections and was a close ally of Benazir Bhutto during the 1990s. Ameer Hamza Shinwari
Ameer Hamza ( ps, امیرحمزه), commonly known as Hamza Baba (), was a prominent Pashto-language poet. His books are taught on master levels in University of Peshawar. At least 5 scholars did their PH.D research thesis on him. He is considered a bridge between classic pashto literature and modern literature. He founded khyber School of thought in Pashto literature. Most notable poets of this school of thought like Nazir Shinwari, Khatir Afridi, Khyber Afridi were his pupils.
