Since its inaugural season in 2007, the American soccer club North Carolina FC, previously known as the Carolina RailHawks, has competed in the second division of American soccer in a variety of leagues. The team currently competes in the USL Championship after stints in the North American Soccer League, USSF Division 2 Professional League and USL First Division. 2008 United Soccer Leagues
The 2008 Season is the 22nd edition of the United Soccer Leagues season. The season kicked off on Friday, April 12 with two First Division games, as the Charleston Battery visited Miami FC and the Montreal Impact visited the Vancouver Whitecaps. General * Changes in the First Division: the California Victory take the 2008 season off, leaving 11 teams playing a 30-game schedule. * Changes in the Second Division: the Pittsburgh Riverhounds return from hiatus, and Real Maryland FC join as an expansion team. However, the Cincinnati Kings and New Hampshire Phantoms drop to the PDL. 10 teams play a 20-game schedule this season. * In the PDL, 5 teams withdrew for the 2008 season, while 7 expansion teams and the two voluntary relegations increase the league to 67 teams in 10 divisions across 4 conferences. 2011 North American Soccer League Season
The 2011 North American Soccer League season is the 44th season of second division soccer in the United States and the inaugural season of the newly created North American Soccer League. Earlier in 2011, the league's likelihood of earning second tier sanctioning had been thrown into question when the U.S. Soccer Federation rejected the league in January due to its financial instability. The USSF gave provisional sanctioning at the annual general meeting in Las Vegas on February 12, 2011. Competition format The NASL debuted in 2011 with 8 teams playing a 28-game regular season schedule, with 14 home and 14 away games, playing each opponent four times. The NASL’s playoff format consisted of the top six teams, with the first two teams receiving a bye until the semifinal round and the remaining four teams playing in a single-game playoff to advance to the semifinals. Etienne Barbara
Etienne Barbara (born 10 June 1982) is a Maltese former footballer and manager. Club career Malta Barbara started his career as a youth player with Qormi. After having been spotted by scouts following some impressive displays, he earned a move to play in the Maltese Premier League with Floriana in July 1999. Early in his career with them, he was often used in defensive positions and although he played 74 games with the club he only managed eight goals – all which were all scored during the 2001–02 season. In 2002, Barbara received his first call up to the Maltese national team due to a number of impressive performances for Floriana. The 2010 season is the 24th season played by the United Soccer Leagues. Season titles will be contested by 6 professional men's clubs in the USL Second Division, 29 professional and amateur women's clubs in the W-League, and 68 professional and amateur men's teams in the USL Premier Development League. The remaining USL First Division teams that did not break away to form the North American Soccer League, as well as the NASL teams, will play in the D2 Pro League this year. Daniel Paladini
Daniel Paladini (born November 11, 1984 in Northridge, California) is an American soccer player. Career Youth and college Paladini was twice named an all-state selection as a high schooler at St. Francis High School in 2000 and 2001, and played club soccer for Real SoCal for many years. At Cal State Northridge he was a first team All-Big West selection in 2004 and 2005, and scored seven goals and added four assists in 2005 en route to Big West Conference midfielder of the year honors. Professional Paladini was signed to Los Angeles Galaxy's developmental roster in May 2006, having been the club's last selection of the second round (24th overall) of the 2006 MLS Supplemental Draft. He played for both Galaxy and C.D. Chivas USA's reserves during the 2006 season, and was a named substitute on several occasions for Galaxy, but never appeared for either first team, and was waived by the Galaxy at the end of the season. The 2009 season is the 23rd season played by the United Soccer Leagues. Season titles will be contested by 20 professional men's clubs in the USL First Division and USL Second Division, as well as 37 professional and amateur women's clubs in the W-League and 68 professional and amateur men's teams in the USL Premier Development League. The First Division season kicked off on April 11 with the US Open Cup finalist Charleston Battery and host defending champions Vancouver Whitecaps FC playing to a scoreless tie, while the Carolina RailHawks defeated the visiting Minnesota Thunder 2–1.
