Jimmy Johnson (actor)
Jimmy Johnson (1940 − 8 July 2020) was a Nigerian actor, writer and broadcaster, best known for his role Okoro of the Nigerian Television Authority 1980s TV series ''The Village Headmaster''. On July 8, 2020, Johnson died at Garki hospital, Abuja at the age of 80. Career Beginning his stage career in Ibadan in the early 1960s, Johnson worked with Wole Soyinka in the Orisun Theatre Company and at the Mbari Club, a centre for cultural activity that attracted writers, artists and musicians of African descent from all over Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean, including Soyinka, Ulli Beier, Chinua Achebe, Christopher Okigbo, Mabel Segun, J. Amaka Igwe
Amaka Igwe (2 January 1963 – 28 April 2014) was a Nigerian filmmaker and broadcasting executive. Igwe was the owner oTop Radio90.9 Lagos and Amaka Igwe Studios. She was recognized as one of the second-generation filmmakers who helped begin the video film era of Nigerian cinema. She remained a prominent figure in the industry until her death in 2014 resulting from an asthma attack. On 2 January 2020, Igwe was honoured on her 57th posthumous birthday with a Google Doodle. Early life and education Uzoamaka Audrey "Amaka" Igwe was born to Isaac and Patience Ene on 2 January 1963 in Port-Harcourt. Igwe was the fifth of seven children, and the fourth of six sisters. Bimbo Akintola (born 5 May 1970) is a Nigerian actress. Early life and education Akintola was born on 5 May 1970 to a father from Oyo State and a mother from Edo State. She studied at Maryland Convent Private School in Lagos State. She proceeded to Command Day Secondary School, Lagos. She earned a degree in Theater Arts from University of Ibadan. Akinwunmi Isola
Akinwunmi Isola (24 December 1939 – 17 February 2018) was a Nigerian playwright, novelist, actor, dramatist, culture activist and scholar. He was known for his writing in, and his work in promoting, the Yoruba language. As an actor, he was known for '' Agogo Eèwò'' (2002), ''Efunsetan Aniwura'' (1981) and ''Efunsetan Aniwura'' (2005). Early life and career Isola was born in Ibadan in 1939, attended Labode Methodist School and Wesley College. He studied at the University of Ibadan, earning a B.A. in French. He was appointed professor at the same University in 1991. Isola wrote his first play, ''Efunsetan Aniwura'', during 1961-62 while still a student at the University of Ibadan. Yemi Shodimu (born 29 January 1960) is a Nigerian dramatist, television presenter, film director and filmmaker. Early life He was born in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State southwestern Nigeria. He spent his early life in Abeokuta at the palace of Alake of Egbaland where he was exposed to the Yoruba culture. O Le Ku
''O Le Ku'' is a 1997 Nigerian romantic drama film produced and directed by Tunde Kelani. It is an adaptation of Prof. Akinwunmi Ishola's novel of the same name. It was released in 1997 by Mainframe Film and Television Productions. It was made in two parts. Plot ''O Le Ku'' tells the story of Ajani, an undergraduate of the University of Ibadan who is in his final year. He is under pressure from his mother to find a partner and he unwittingly finds himself in a love quadrangle. He dates three women simultaneously; Asake, a secondary school teacher is his long-term girlfriend. He meets Lola a fresher who is tall, slim and pretty. Moses Olaiya
Moses Olaiya (18 May 1936 – 7 October 2018), better known by his stage name "Baba Sala", was a Nigerian comedian, dramatist, and actor. A Yoruba from Ijesha, Baba Sala, regarded as the father of modern Nigerian comedy, alongside other dramatists like Hubert Ogunde, Kola Ogunmola, Oyin Adejobi and Duro Ladipo popularized theater and television acting in Nigeria. He was a prolific filmmaker.
