The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is the government agency in the U.S. state of New Hampshire charged with overseeing the state correctional facilities, supervising probation and parolees, and serving in an advisory capacity in the prevention of crime and delinquency. As of June 30, 2013, the Department had an inmate population of 2,791, 15,267 on probation or parole, and 893 total employees, 470 as corrections officers and 64 as probation/parole officers. The agency has its headquarters in Concord. The largest correctional facility in the United States is the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord. Lakes Region Facility
Lakes Region Facility was a state prison in Laconia, Belknap County, New Hampshire, in the United States. The facility was operated by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, and has been closed as of June 30, 2009 as a result of the late-2000s recession. The Lakes Region Facility was a minimum custody transitional facility. Its capacity is 400 inmates but averaged about 300 male inmates. The warden of the facility oversaw inmates housed there as well as inmates in the Calumet and North End Transitional Housing Units, as well as the Transitional Work Center. Lakes Region Facility minimum-security offenders provided over 30,000 hours of community service to state and county agencies and Laconia-area non-profit organizations. New Hampshire State Prison For Men
New Hampshire State Prison for Men (NHSPM) is a New Hampshire Department of Corrections prison in New Hampshire, United States. Located in Concord, New Hampshire, it is equipped to accept maximum, medium, and minimum security prisoners. Opened in 1878 to replace an earlier prison built in 1812, State Prison for Men is the State of New Hampshire's oldest prison facility. Renovated and expanded in the 1980s, it includes a 60-bed secure psychiatric unit/residential treatment unit, and is the only facility operated by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections which houses maximum security male prisoners. The New Hampshire Corrections Special School District operates a high school within this facility, which provides both a high school diploma or the G.E.D. New Hampshire State Prison For Women
New Hampshire State Prison for Women is the only women's prison in the U.S. state of New Hampshire. The New Hampshire Department of Corrections facility is located in Concord. The new prison opened in 2018 after decades of legal battles concerning the services offered at the old Goffstown facility. It houses maximum, medium, and minimum security prisoners and overflow prisoners from the county prisons, which often lack appropriate facilities for women. Since 2008, the Saint Anselm College Knights of Columbus and a group of women from the prison have started a recycling program within the prison. In 2009, Saint Anselm's Knights of Columbus Council #4875 won the National Community Activity Award from the Supreme Council in Connecticut. Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility
The Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility (NNHCF) is a state prison in Berlin, New Hampshire, United States. It is a part of the New Hampshire Department of Corrections. It is north of the state capital at Concord. NNHCF contains only medium security male prisoners and has a maximum capacity of approximately 500 prisoners.
