National Hero Of Azerbaijan
The National Hero of Azerbaijan ( az, Azərbaycan milli qəhrəmanı) is the highest Hero (title), national title in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The title was named on 25 March 1992, and the "Qizil Ulduz" Medal awarded as a sign of receiving this title was established by a separate law in 15 July 1992. The law on the title has been in effect since 25 December 1995. It can only be awarded once to the same person. The title is awarded for outstanding services of national importance to Azerbaijan in defence and strengthening of the state system and creation of important national values. Elgiz Karimov ( az, Elgiz Kərimov) (January 5, 1971, Barda District, Azerbaijan – March 12, 1992, Nakhichevanik, Khojaly District, Azerbaijan) was the National Hero of Azerbaijan, and the warrior of the Karabakh war. Life Elgiz Karimov was born on January 5, 1971, in Barda District, Azerbaijan. He was graduated from secondary school in 1987 and called up for military service. When Elgiz completed his military service and returned to Barda, he came back to the frontline voluntarily. In 1991 he was sent to self-defense battalions. Military activities Elgiz Karimov participated in battles around Askeran. After this fight, he became so popular in the villages around Askeran. Sarkhan Ojaqverdiyev ( az, Sərxan Surxay oğlu Ocaqverdiyev) (16 July 1967, Goranboy, Azerbaijan – 5 May 1992, Talish, Goranboy, Azerbaijan) was the National Hero of Azerbaijan, and the warrior of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Early life and education Sarkhan Ojaqverdiyev was born on 16 July 1967 in Safikyurd village in the Goranboy Rayon of Azerbaijan. He went to secondary school in Tatarly village from 1975 to 1985. He served in the Soviet Army in 1985, and completed his military service in 1987. At the same year, he was admitted to the Ganja Mechanical Engineering College from which he graduated in 1989 and started to work at the Ganja Mechanical Engineering Plant. Nagorno Karabakh war When the Armenian invaders attacked the territory of Azerbaijan, Ojaqverdiyev voluntarily went to the frontline and joined the ranks of Azerbaijani army. Safiyar Behbudov
Safiyar Behbudov ( az, Behbudov Səfiyar Abuzər oğlu) (14 June 1967, in Barda, Azerbaijan – 21 March 1992, in Aghdam, Azerbaijan) was an Azerbaijani officer, the National Hero of Azerbaijan, and the warrior of the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Life He was born on 14 June 1967, in Mollalı village of Barda region. He went to the Barda city secondary school No. 6 in 1984, and then, he was drafted to the military service in the Soviet Army. Riad Fikrat ogly Ahmadov ( az, Riad Fikrət oğlu Əhmədov, December 20, 1956 – January 25, 1992) was awarded the decoration Hero of Azerbaijan for his part in the First Nagorno-Karabakh War. Naig Yusifov ( az, Yusifov Naiq Nəsir oğlu) (5 January 1970 – 24 March 1992) was an Azerbaijani soldier and National Hero of Azerbaijan who was killed during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.
