In basketball, points are accumulated through free throws or field goals. The National Basketball League's (NBL) scoring title was awarded to the player with the most total points in a given season. McDermott earned the most points spanning an eight-year NBL career, but Mikan only played two seasons and set both records during 1948–49, the final year the league existed. Free Throw
In basketball, free throws or foul shots are unopposed attempts to score points by shooting from behind the free-throw line (informally known as the foul line or the charity stripe), a line situated at the end of the Key (basketball), restricted area. Free throws are generally awarded after a Personal foul (basketball), foul on the shooter by the opposing team, analogous to penalty shots in other team sports. Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons
The Detroit Pistons are an American professional basketball team based in Detroit. The Pistons compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the league's Eastern Conference Central Division and play their home games at Little Caesars Arena, located in Midtown. Founded in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a semi-professional company basketball team called the Fort Wayne Zollner Pistons in 1937, they would turn pro in 1941 as a member of the National Basketball League (NBL), where they won two NBL championships: in 1944 and 1945. Akron Goodyear Wingfoots
The Akron Goodyear Wingfoots are one of the oldest basketball teams in the United States. They were founded in 1918, by the workers at the Goodyear Tire Company, in Akron, Ohio. The teams, while giving workers recreation, also helped to promote one of the first canvas/rubber based shoes made specifically for athletics, the wingfoot.
