The ''Monogatari'' Japanese anime television series is based on the light novel series of the same name, written by Nisio Isin with illustrations by Vofan. The anime is directed by several directors and produced by the animation studio Shaft. The series debuted with ''Bakemonogatari'' and aired 12 episodes between July 3 and September 25, 2009, on the Tokyo MX television station. Three additional original net animation episodes were distributed on the anime's official website between November 3, 2009, and June 25, 2010. A sequel titled ''Nisemonogatari'' aired 11 episodes between January 7 and March 17, 2012.As ''Nisemonogatari'' aired in Tokyo MX's Saturday 24:00 (00:00 JST) time slot, the premiere technically occurred on Sunday, January 8, 2012. is a Japanese animation studio. It was founded by ex-Frontline animation producer Hayato Kaneko in December 2007 and is based in Tokyo. or Mushi Pro for short, is a Japanese animation studio headquartered in Fujimidai, Nerima, Tokyo, Japan. It previously had a headquarters elsewhere in Nerima. Tatsuya Oishi (director)
is a Japanese director, animator, and storyboard artist. Oishi began his career at Studio Junio as an animator, but gained fame for his work with fellow directors Akiyuki Shinbo and Shin Oonuma at studio Shaft (company), Shaft, where he directed the ''Monogatari (series), Bakemonogatari'' television series and its prequel film trilogy ''Kizumonogatari''. Akiyuki Shinbo
is a Japanese animator, director, writer, and storyboard artist. Best known for his works with Shaft (company), Shaft, he has attained international recognition with the studio for his unique visual style and storytelling methods.
