''Juana Gallo'' is a 1961 Mexican drama film written and directed by Miguel Zacarías. It was entered into the 2nd Moscow International Film Festival. Plot The story takes place during the Mexican Revolution. After Juana Gallo's (Maria Felix) father and boyfriend were executed by the government officials, Juana takes courage in response of her lost and rescues the man from the village that were taken as prisoners. Juana breaks the stereotypes and lectures the man from the village and the soldiers, (now prisoners) of how Mexicans are killing other Mexicans just to protect a corrupt government. Fernando Casado Arambillet (La Coruña (Spain), 20 September 1917 – Madrid (Spain), 9 March 1994), best known as Fernando Rey, was a Spanish film, theatre, and television actor, who worked in both Europe and the United States. A suave, international actor best known for his roles in the films of surrealist director Luis Buñuel (''Viridiana'', 1961; ''Tristana'', 1970; '' Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie'', 1972; ''That Obscure Object of Desire'', 1977) and as the drug lord Alain Charnier in '' The French Connection'' (1971) and '' French Connection II'' (1975), he appeared in more than 150 films over half a century. María de la Cruz Olivier Obergh (September 19, 1933 – October 10, 1984), known professionally as Maricruz Olivier, was a Mexican actress of film, television, and theater. She is best remembered for starring in the 1959 version of the telenovela ''Teresa'', which was a success as it established her on-screen persona of playing villains. Early life Olivier was born María de la Cruz Olivier Obergh to Mercedes Shirley Obergh in the city of Tehuacán, Puebla. Olivier studied philosophy, literature, and acting for two years in the Academia Andrés Soler. Amparo Arozamena (August 24, 1916 – April 30, 2009) was a Mexican actress of film and television, best known for her character roles in the 1960s. During the same decade, she became most noted for her role of "Doña Chole" in the Telesistema Mexicano sitcom ''Los Beverly de Peralvillo'' (1968–1973). Arozamena had been acting since her early teens and had her first feature film released at the age of thirteen. Biography Arozamena was born on August 24, 1916, in Mexico City, Mexico. Mario Gilberto Agustin Martinez Solares (January 19, 1906 – January 18, 1997) was a Mexican director, cinematographer, screenwriter, and actor who is considered one of the most prolific filmmakers in Mexican cinema having directed more than 160 films, most of them written by him during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He is also recognized as the most important comedy director in Mexico. Life and career Gilberto Martínez Solares was born on January 19, 1906, in Mexico City. His father, Gilberto Martínez Medina, was an accountant that worked for the Madero government. Jorge Mistral
Modesto Llosas Rosell (24 November 1920 – 20 April 1972) known professionally as Jorge Mistral was a Spanish film actor. During the 1940s, he became a star in films produced by CIFESA. In the 1950s, he lived and worked in México and appeared in Luis Buñuel's '' Abismos de pasión'' in 1954. Later, in the 1960s, he directed three films. Early life Jorge Mistral was born Modesto Llosas Rosell on 24 November 1920 in Aldaia, a city located next to Valencia, Spain. His father was from Puerto Rico and his mother from Catalonia. Death Suffering from cancer, Mistral committed suicide with a gunshot while living in Mexico City, Mexico.
