Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics is an American comic book publishing, publisher and the flagship property of Marvel Entertainment, a divsion of The Walt Disney Company since September 1, 2009. Evolving from Timely Comics in 1939, ''Magazine Management/Atlas Comics'' in 1951 and its predecessor, ''Marvel Mystery Comics'', the ''Marvel Comics'' title/name/brand was first used in June 1961. Marvel was started in 1939 by Martin Goodman (publisher), Martin Goodman as Timely Comics, and by 1951 had generally become known as Atlas Comics (1950s), Atlas Comics. The Marvel era began in June 1961 with the launch of ''The Fantastic Four'' and other superhero titles created by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and many others. Daily Bugle
The ''Daily Bugle'' (at one time ''The DB'') is a fictional New York City tabloid newspaper appearing as a plot element in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The ''Daily Bugle'' is a regular fixture in the Marvel Universe, most prominently in Spider-Man comic titles and their derivative media. The newspaper first appeared in the Human Torch story in ''Marvel Mystery Comics'' #18 (April 1941), returned in ''Fantastic Four'' #2 (Jan. 1962), and its offices first shown in ''The Amazing Spider-Man'' #1 (March 1963). The ''Daily Bugle'' was first featured on film in the 2002 film ''Spider-Man''. The fictional newspaper is meant to be a pastiche of both the New York '' Daily News'' and the ''New York Post'', two popular real-life New York City tabloids. Billy Tucci
William Tucci is an illustrator, writer, and filmmaker best known for his creator-owned title and character, ''Shi''. Career Tucci founded Crusade Comics in Bayport, New York Its flagship title, ''Shi'', debuted in March 1994. Publisher Top Cow's character Witchblade and David Mack's character Kabuki debuted in ''Shi'' before going on to their own titles. Tucci wrote and illustrated ''Shi: Return of the Warrior" and wrote "Zombie-Sama!'', a comedy graphic novel with illustrator John Broglia, both published by Crusade Fine Arts. In 2006 Tucci began pencilling Marvel Comics' ''Heroes for Hire'', and DC's VS cards, and later on the DC series ''Jonah Hex'', ''Birds of Prey'', ''Flash Vs. Superman'' and ''Harley Quinn''. Shi (comics)
Shi (Ana Ishikawa) is a fictional comic book character created by writer/illustrator William Tucci. She first appeared in ''Razor Annual'' #1 (1993) and has appeared in numerous books by various publishers ever since, most notably Tucci's own Crusade Comics and the Image Universe. Shi is a young woman of Japanese and American descent trained as a '' sohei'' warrior monk, who struggles to reconcile her Japanese grandfather's martial training with her American mother's Christian teachings. Japanese culture and spiritual themes are prominent, recurring motifs in storylines featuring her, especially as they pertain to this conflict. The word ''shi'' literally translates to death (死) in Japanese, and Shi's signature weapon is the ''naginata''. "An eye for an eye" ( hbo, עַיִן תַּחַת עַיִן, ) is a commandment found in the Book of Exodus 21:23–27 expressing the principle of reciprocal justice measure for measure. The principle exists also in Babylonian law. In Roman civilization, the law of retaliation ( la, lex talionis) bears the same principle that a person who has injured another person is to be penalized to a similar degree by the injured party. In softer interpretations, it means the victim receives the stimatedvalue of the injury in compensation. The intent behind the principle was to ''restrict'' compensation to the value of the loss. ''Daredevil'' is a 2003 American superhero film written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett.
