This is a list of the Voivodeship Marshals of Silesia ( pl, marszałek województwa śląskiego) since the creation of the position in 1999. The Voivodeship Marshal of Silesia is the head of the provincial government and is the chief of the executive board. Voivodeship Marshal
A voivodeship marshal ( pl, marszałek województwa, ) is the head of the provincial-level government for each of the sixteen voivodeships of Poland. Elected by councillors from the provincial assembly, the marshal is the head of the collective voivodeship executive board, which acts as the ''de facto'' cabinet for the region. Adam Matusiewicz
Adam Matusiewicz (born 28 January 1973 in Katowice) is a Polish politician. Matusiewicz served as the fifth Marshal of Silesian Voivodeship from 2010 to 2013. Early career Born and raised in Katowice, Matusiewicz studied accounting specialization at the University of Economics in Katowice. Between 1996 and 2000, Matusiewicz worked as a manager for the Silesian Union of Municipalities and Districts. While working as a member of the organization, Matusiewicz dismissed the politics of the Silesian Autonomy Movement, saying that ideas of Silesian autonomy were a minority opinion and "exist dmore in the mass media" than in reality. After this period, Matusiewicz worked as the town treasurer of Pszczyna from 2000 to 2007. Law and Justice ( pl, Prawo i Sprawiedliwość , PiS) is a right-wing populist and national-conservative political party in Poland. Its chairman is Jarosław Kaczyński. It was founded in 2001 by Jarosław and Lech Kaczyński as a direct successor of the Centre Agreement after it split from the Solidarity Electoral Action (AWS). Wojciech Saługa
Wojciech Paweł Saługa (born 27 March 1969 in Jaworzno) is a Polish economist and politician. He is the current Marshal of Silesia. A graduate of the Kraków University of Economics, Saługa worked at ING Bank Śląski between 1994 and 2002. At the same time, Saługa was involved in municipal politics, elected as an alderman to the Jaworzno City Council between 1998 and 2002, and later served as the town's deputy mayor between 2002 and 2004. He subsequently took a position in the Senate following a successful by-election in 2004 for Sosnowiec as a Civic Platform candidate. Mirosław Sekuła
Mirosław Sekuła (born 20 June 1955, in Strzelce Opolskie) is a Polish chemist and politician. A member of the Sejm between 1997 and 2001 and again between 2007 and 2011, Sekuła also served as President of the Supreme Audit Office between 2001 and 2007, as Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Finance between 2011 and 2013, and as the sixth Marshal of Silesian Voivodeship between 2013 and 2014.
