Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland. Members are all relatively small private institutions, a majority Catholic or formerly Catholic, with the only exceptions being two secular institutions: Rider University and Quinnipiac University. The MAAC currently sponsors 25 sports and has 17 associate member institutions. History The conference was founded in 1980 by six charter members: the U.S. Military Academy, Fairfield University, Fordham University, Iona College, Manhattan College, and Saint Peter's College. List Of MAAC Awards
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) gave out several conference awards to ice hockey players and coaches while it operated a hockey conference from 1998-99 thru 2002-03. For five seasons the MAAC named players to three all-conference teams (First Team, Second Team and Rookie Team) and bestowed six of seven individual awards at the conclusion of the regular season. The seventh award ( Tournament MVP) was conferred after the conference tournament was completed. All Awards were voted for by the head coaches of each MAAC member team. All Awards were discontinued after the conclusion of the 2002-03 season when the MAAC ice hockey conference was dissolved due to Fairfield and Iona discontinuing their Division I programs. Sacred Heart Pioneers Men's Ice Hockey
The Sacred Heart Pioneers men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Sacred Heart University. The Pioneers are a member of Atlantic Hockey. They play at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. From 1993-2016, the Pioneers home arena was the Milford Ice Pavilion in Milford, Connecticut. History Division III Sacred Heart began sponsoring men's ice hockey as a varsity sport in 1993. Mercyhurst Lakers Men's Ice Hockey
The Mercyhurst Lakers men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association hockey team that represents Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania under Head Coach Rick Gotkin. The team is currently a Division I hockey team playing out of the Mercyhurst Ice Center located on the school campus. The Mercyhurst Lakers started out as a club sport at the school, moving up to Division III, followed by Division II, and now plays Division I in the Atlantic Hockey Association conference. Peter Aubry
Peter Aubry (born May 19, 1977) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional goaltender. He is currently an associate coach at Omaha. Career Born in Windsor, Ontario, Aubry spent four years in Mercyhurst College before turning pro in 2002, signing for the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and also played three games for the American Hockey League's Saint John Flames. He had single season spells over the next two years in the United Hockey League for the Elmira Jackals and back in the ECHL with the Alaska Aces before moving to Great Britain in 2005, signing for the Cardiff Devils as their starting goalie. In 2006, Aubry signed with the Essen Mosquitoes of the 2nd Eishockey-Bundesliga before moving back to the UK, signing for the Newcastle Vipers. Aubry split 2007-08 in the ECHL with the Texas Wildcatters and back in the 2nd Bundesliga with EV Landsberg before returning to the Cardiff Devils in 2008. Canisius Ice Griffins Men's Ice Hockey
The Canisius Golden Griffins men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents Canisius College. The Golden Griffins are a member of Atlantic Hockey.
