The ordinary judges of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales are the Lord Justices of Appeal and Lady Justices of Appeal. These judges serve with the ''ex officio'' members of the court: * Lord Chief Justice * Master of the Rolls * President of the King's Bench Division * President of the Family Division * Chancellor of the High Court * Supreme Court judges appointed from the Court of Appeal or who were eligible to serve on it when appointed to the Supreme Court Judges of the Court of Appeal are made members of the Privy Council within months of appointment, enabling them to serve as members of the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council and entitling them to the style ''The Right Honourable''. Court Of Appeal Of England And Wales
The Court of Appeal (formally "His Majesty's Court of Appeal in England", commonly cited as "CA", "EWCA" or "CoA") is the highest court within the Courts of England and Wales#Senior Courts of England and Wales, Senior Courts of England and Wales, and second in the legal system of England and Wales only to the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom. The Court of Appeal was created in 1875, and today comprises 39 Lord Justices of Appeal and Lady Justices of Appeal. Dame Victoria Madeleine Sharp, , PC (born 8 February 1956) is the President of the King's Bench Division of the High Court of Justice in England and Wales. Early life She is the daughter of Lord Sharp of Grimsdyke. Her twin brother is Richard Sharp, a former Goldman Sachs banker, and Chairman of the BBC from February 2021. She is Jewish. She was educated at North London Collegiate School and the University of Bristol. Career Sharp was called to the Bar, Inner Temple in 1979. She became a Recorder in 1998, and a QC in 2001. She was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE), as is customary, on her appointment as a Justice of the High Court on 13 January 2009. Judicial College
The Judicial College, formerly the Judicial Studies Board (JSB), established in 1979, is the organisation responsible for training judges in county, the Crown, and higher courts in England and Wales and tribunals judges in England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. This includes the training of magistrates and the chairmen and members of tribunals. The current chairman is Lady Justice Anne Rafferty, DBE. The name changed from Judicial Studies Board to Judicial College on 1 April 2011. An essential element of the philosophy of the Judicial College is that the training of judges and magistrates is under judicial control and direction. Vice-President Of The Civil Division
The Vice-President of the Civil Division is a Court of Appeal Judge who assists the Master of the Rolls in leading the Civil Division of the Court of Appeal of England and Wales. The power to appoint a vice-president was created by the Senior Courts Act 1981, but was not exercised until Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers was appointed Master of the Rolls in 2000. Because Lord Phillips was in the process of completing the inquiry into the bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) outbreak, he appointed Sir Martin Nourse the first vice-president so he could serve as Acting Master of the Rolls. Lord Phillips opted to appoint a successor on Sir Martin Nourse's retirement the following year to deputise when he was abroad.
