This is a list of the fifty largest cities in Latin America by population residing within city limits as of 2015, the most recent year for which official population census results, estimates or short-term projections are available for most of these cities. These figures do not reflect the population of the urban agglomeration or metropolitan area which typically do not coincide with the administrative boundaries of the city. These figures refer to mid-2015 populations with the exception of Mexican cities, whose figures derive from the 2015 Intercensal Survey conducted by INEGI with a reference date of 15 March 2015. Municipalities Of Colombia
The Municipalities of Colombia are decentralized subdivisions of the Republic of Colombia. Municipalities make up most of the departments of Colombia with 1,122 municipalities (''municipios''). Each one of them is led by a mayor (''alcalde'') elected by popular vote and represents the maximum executive government official at a municipality level under the mandate of the governor of their department which is a representative of all municipalities in the department; municipalities are grouped to form departments. Sucre, Miranda
Sucre Municipality is one of the 21 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Miranda and one of five the municipalities that make up the Metropolitan District of Caracas. According to a 2016 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 691,317. The parish of Petare is the municipal seat of the Sucre Municipality. Name The municipality is one of several in Venezuela named " Sucre Municipality" in honour of Venezuelan independence hero Antonio José de Sucre. Baruta
Baruta (pop. 317,288) is a municipality within the Metropolitan District of Caracas in Venezuela. Geography Baruta is located geographically in the South-East section of the city. Its western limit is the '' Los Chaguaramos'' neighborhood (which belongs to the Libertador Bolivarian Municipality) and limits to the east with the ''Colinas de Los Ruices'' neighborhood, in the Sucre Municipality. To the North, it borders with the Francisco Fajardo Highway and to the Southeast with the El Hatillo Municipality and to the Southwest with the ''Hoyo de la Puerta'' neighborhood (Libertador Municipality). Chacao, Venezuela
Chacao is one of the five political and administrative subdivisions of the city of Caracas, Venezuela. The other four are Baruta, El Hatillo, Libertador and Sucre. This legal entity is known as the Caracas Metropolitan District. Chacao is also one of the 21 municipalities that make up the State of Miranda, Venezuela. Libertador Bolivarian Municipality
The Libertador Bolivarian Municipality ( es, Municipio Bolivariano Libertador) is the only administrative division of the Capital District and along with the municipalities of Baruta, Chacao, El Hatillo and Sucre forms the Metropolitan District of Caracas.
