The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is a major financial agency of the United Nations, and an international financial institution, headquartered in Washington, D.C., consisting of 190 countries. Maurice Obstfeld
Maurice Moses "Maury" Obstfeld (born March 19, 1952) is a professor of economics at the University of California, Berkeley and previously Chief Economist at the International Monetary Fund. He is also a nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. He is well known for his work in international economics and his research on the global economy. He is among the most influential economists in the world according to IDEAS/RePEc. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania ''summa cum laude'', Cambridge and MIT, where received his Ph.D. in 1979. The Econometric Society is an international society of academic economists interested in applying statistical tools to their field. Gita Gopinath (born 8 December 1971) is an Indian-American economist who has served as the first deputy managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), since 21 January 2022.
