International Alliance Of Theatrical Stage Employees
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada, known as simply the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE or IA for short), is a North American labor union representing over 150,000 technicians, artisans, and craftspersons in the entertainment industry, including live theatre, motion picture and television production, and trade shows in the United States and Canada. It was awarded the Tony Honors for Excellence in Theatre in 1993. Overview IATSE was founded in 1893 when representatives of stagehands working in eleven cities met in New York and pledged to support each other's efforts to establish fair wages and working conditions for their members. International Cinematographers Guild
The International Cinematographers Guild (IATSE Local 600) represents approximately 8,400 members who work throughout the United States, Canada and the rest of the world in film and television as Directors of Photography, Camera Operators, Camera Assistants ( 1st AC, 2nd AC), Digital Imaging Technicians, Still Photographers, and all members of camera crews. History The first cinematographers union, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 644 was established in New York in 1926, followed by unions in Los Angeles and Chicago, but it wasn't until 1996 that Local 600 was born as a national guild. In 2015 the Guild chose Rebecca Rhine as its first female executive director. Archive The International Cinematographers Guild Interview Collection is housed at the Academy Film Archive. Motion Picture Editors Guild
The Motion Picture Editors Guild (MPEG; IATSE Local 700) is the guild that represents freelance and staff motion picture film and television editors and other post-production professionals and story analysts throughout the United States. The Motion Picture Editors Guild (Union Local 700) is a part of the 500 affiliated local unions of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), a national labor organization with 104,000-plus members. There are more than 6,000 members of the Editors Guild. Function The MPEG negotiates collective bargaining agreements (union contracts) with producers and major motion picture movie studios and enforces existing agreements with employers involved in post-production. The Art Directors Guild (ADG; IATSE Local 800) is a trade union, labor union and local of the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees, International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees (IATSE) representing 2,979 motion picture and television professionals in the United States and Canada. VFX Union also known as the IATSE VFX Union, Visual Effects Union or International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Visual Effects Union is a North American visual effects labor union and a wing of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. History The organization traces its origin to a group of 300 VFX artists who created the "VFX Production Group" on a Slack channel in 2020. They began to compare what salaries different studios provided. The VFX Union officially formed in 2012. In 2016 after the reports of poor working conditions on Sony's ''Sausage Party'' the IATSE filed a complaint with the British Columbia Ministry of Labour's Employment Standards Branch on behalf of the artists of the films and reached out to the VFX Union to offer help.
