Haitian Canadians are Canadian citizens of Haitian descent or Haiti-born people who reside in Canada. As of 2016, more than 86% of Haitian Canadians reside in Quebec. Haitian settlement in the Quebec municipality Montreal increased about 40% between the late 1960s and the early 1970s. Mikaël Gabriel "Miki" Cantave (born 25 October 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Vancouver FC. Born in Canada, he represents the Haiti national team. Early life Born in Ottawa, Cantave began playing soccer at age five with FC Capital United. At age 13, he moved to France joining the FC Nantes academy, after a couple of trials over the previous two years, formed through a relationship between Capital United and Nantes. Afterwards he went to Nacional in France before joining Getafe's U19. Club career In January 2016, he signed with Spanish club Guadalajara in the third tier Segunda División B. Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre
Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre (born February 2, 1977) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and current studio analyst for the Columbus Blue Jackets on Bally Sports Ohio. He was drafted in the seventh round, 179th overall, by the St. Louis Blues in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He once won the Speed Skating competition of the AHL All-Star Game, beating Martin St. Louis among others. Career After playing four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Grand-Pierre made his professional debut in the American Hockey League with the Rochester Americans during the 1997–98 season, recording ten points and 211 penalty minutes in 75 games. James "Jems" Geffrard (born 26 August 1994) is a professional footballer. Born in Canada, he represents the Haiti national team. Early life Geffrard began playing futsal at age 12 and began playing football at age 14, where he played youth soccer with CS Rivière-des-Prairies, before later joining the Montreal Impact Academy. Club career Geffrard began his career in 2011 by signing with the Montreal Impact Academy, and competed in the Canadian Soccer League, and USL Premier Development League. In 2016, he signed with the Impact's second team, FC Montreal, in the United Soccer League. In 2017, Geffrard left Canada to play for Ekenäs IF in Finland's second division. Edrick Bertholan Floréal (born October 5, 1966 in Gonaïves, Haiti) is a track and field coach for the Texas Longhorns men's track and field and women's track and field program and retired long and triple jumper from Canada. Career Athletics career Floréal finished fourth in the triple jump at the 1987 Pan American Games. He represented Canada at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1988.
