Greyhound Lines, Inc. (commonly known as simply Greyhound) operates the largest intercity bus service in North America, including Greyhound Mexico. It also operates charter bus services, Amtrak Thruway services, commuter bus services, and package delivery services. Greyhound operates 1,700 coach buses produced mainly by Motor Coach Industries and Prevost serving 230 stations and 1,700 destinations. The company's first route began in Hibbing, Minnesota in 1914 and the company adopted the ''Greyhound'' name in 1929. Gilroy Station
Gilroy station is a Caltrain station located in Gilroy, California, United States. It is the southernmost terminus of the Caltrain system, and is only served during weekday rush hours in the peak direction, with trains going toward San Francisco in the morning and returning southbound in the evening. The station building was constructed by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1913 and restored in 1998. Future plans call for extended Amtrak ''Capitol Corridor'' service to also stop at Gilroy. The station was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2019 as Gilroy Southern Pacific Railroad Depot. Salinas station, also known as the Salinas Intermodal Transportation Center, is an intermodal transit center in downtown Salinas, California, United States. As a transit hub, the facility is a passenger rail station and bus station. Services The station is a stop on the ''Coast Starlight'' from Los Angeles to Seattle, Washington. Greyhound Lines moved its Salinas station to the property in 2015. The Transportation Agency for Monterey County's planned Monterey County Rail Extension would see expanded Caltrain commuter rail service from the station to the San Francisco Bay Area by 2025, with long-term plans to extend Amtrak California's ''Capitol Corridor'' as well. Redding station is an intercity train station served by Amtrak's ''Coast Starlight'', located in Redding, California, United States. The depot was built by the Southern Pacific Railroad in 1923 and opened on February 5, 1924. The train station has sheltered waiting areas on both platforms and a parking lot near the southbound platform. Due to the way schedules are aligned, both the northbound and the southbound ''Coast Starlight'' pass through Redding in the middle of the night, when no connecting transit systems are usually operating. Palm Springs station is a train station in the Garnet community of Palm Springs, California, United States, served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. The ''Sunset Limited'' and the ''Texas Eagle'', combined, provide a thrice-weekly service in each direction. This is not a full-service station. The station comprises a single platform and an open-air shelter with a roof. It was built in 1999, and the property is owned by the City of Palm Springs. No services are offered at this unmanned station. The station is approximately north of Palm Springs, and there are no connecting transportation services between the station and downtown except for taxi cabs and app-based ride services. Greyhound Lines also has a stop (no ticketing) at the station. The Modesto Transportation Center is a bus terminal and former train station located in downtown Modesto, California. History The Central Pacific Railroad was built through Modesto in 1870, and was taken over by the Southern Pacific in 1884. In 1915, the Southern Pacific Railroad built a new Mission Revival-style station. It was used until 1971, when Amtrak took over intercity passenger service. When Amtak restored service to Modesto with the '' San Joaquin'' in 1974, the former Santa Fe station in Riverbank was used instead. (It was replaced with the modern Modesto station in 1999.) The depot was restored in 1993 as a bus terminal. Rail service is expected to be restored by 2024 as part of the Altamont Corridor Express extension to Ceres.
