Trentino
Trentino ( lld, Trentin), officially the Autonomous Province of Trento, is an autonomous province of Italy, in the country's far north. The Trentino and South Tyrol constitute the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, an autonomous region under the constitution. The province is composed of 166 ''comuni'' (municipalities). Its capital is the city of Trento (Trent). The province covers an area of more than , with a total population of 541,098 in 2019. Trentino is renowned for its mountains, such as the Dolomites, which are part of the Alps. Etymology The province is generally known as "Trentino". The Italian Republican Party ( it, Partito Repubblicano Italiano, PRI) is a liberal and social-liberal political party in Italy. Founded in 1895, the PRI is the oldest political party still active in Italy. The PRI has old roots and a long history that began with a left-wing position, claiming descent from the political thought of Giuseppe Mazzini and Giuseppe Garibaldi. The early PRI was also known for its anti-clerical, anti-monarchist republican and later anti-fascist stances. 1993 Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol Regional Election
The Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol regional election of 1993 took place on 21 November 1993. The South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) and Christian Democracy (DC) resulted the two most voted parties at the regional level. However, while the SVP retained its outright majority in South Tyrol, the DC was the real loser of the election. The party, severely damaged by the ''Tangentopoli'' scandals, lost half of its share of vote both in South Tyrol and the Trentino, where it lost many votes to the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party (PATT) and Lega Nord Trentino (LNT). The Council was divided in a lot of micro-parties. After the election, the SVP, DC and the PATT formed a coalition at the regional level. Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party
The Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party ( it, Partito Autonomista Trentino Tirolese, PATT) is a regionalist, autonomist, Christian-democratic and centrist political party in Trentino, Italy. The PATT is the unofficial counterpart of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP), active in South Tyrol. The two are members of the European People's Party (EPP) and have contested together several general and European Parliament elections. Simone Marchiori is the party's current secretary, Franco Panizza its president. Ugo Rossi, a former leader, was the President of Trentino in 2013–2018. Marchiori, Panizza and Rossi are centrists and long supported the Centre-left coalition with the Democratic Party and the Union for Trentino (PATT's coalition partners since 2002). Carlo Andreotti (born 21 May 1943) is an Italian politician. Biography Carlo Andreotti was born in Trento on 21 May 1943. He graduated in law and is licensed to practice as a lawyer. Later he became a journalist, he was editor of L'Adige and worked for RAI, becoming head of service. In January 1988, it was founded the Trentino Tyrolean Autonomist Party (PATT) and Andreotti became its political secretary, a position he held until 1994, while from 1997 to 1999 he was its president. In 1988 he was elected regional councillor, an office he held until 2008.
