Georgia has submitted twenty films for Oscar consideration in the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film category since gaining its independence from the USSR in 1991. Georgia received an Oscar nomination for its first-ever submission, ''A Chef in Love''. Submissions The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film since 1956.
