Ethiopian Americans are Americans of Ethiopian descent, as well as individuals of American and Ethiopian ancestry. History In 1919, an official Ethiopian goodwill mission was sent to the United States to congratulate the Allied powers on their victory during the First World War. The four-person delegation included ''Dejazmach'' Nadew, the nephew of Empress Zawditu and Commander of the Imperial Army, along with '' Blattengeta'' Heruy Welde Sellase, Mayor of Addis Ababa, ''Kentiba'' Gebru, Mayor of Gondar, and Ato Sinkas, ''Dejazmach'' Nadew's secretary. After his official coronation, Emperor Haile Selassie sent forth the first wave of Ethiopian students to continue their education abroad. Abdul "Duke" Fakir
Abdul Kareem Fakir (born December 26, 1935), professionally known as Duke Fakir, is an American singer. He is a founding member of the Motown quartet the Four Tops, from 1953 to the present day. A first tenor, Fakir is the group's lone surviving original member, performing today with Ronnie McNeir, Lawrence "Roquel" Payton Jr. (son of original member Lawrence Payton), and Alexander Morris. Biography Fakir was born on December 26, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan. His father was a factory worker who came from what is now Bangladesh. Fakir attended Detroit's Pershing High School, where he played basketball, football, and ran track. He first met fellow band member Levi Stubbs through neighborhood football games, even though he was not aware Stubbs was a singer. Abdus Ibrahim
Abdusalam Abas Ibrahim, known as Fuad Ibrahim and Ibee Ibrahim (born 15 August 1991), is an Ethiopian former professional footballer who played as a forward. Early and personal life Ibrahim was born in Ethiopia and raised in Richfield, Minnesota. Club career Ibrahim spent his early career with the IMG Soccer Academy, FC Dallas and Toronto FC., retrieved on 21 January 2013. At the time of being drafted in 2007, he was the second-youngest ever player selected in the MLS Superdraft. Ibrahim graduated from Generation Adidas at the end of the 2010 MLS season. He returned to professional soccer by signing with the Minnesota Stars FC of the North American Soccer League in April 2012.
