Naguib El-Rihani
Naguib el-Rihani ( ar, نجيب الريحاني; January 21, 1889 in Cairo – June 8, 1949 in Alexandria) was an Egyptian film and stage actor. Biography Born in Bab El Shereya, Cairo to a middle class family. His father, a Christian who worked as a horse expert and a trader, his mother was a Coptic Egyptian woman from Cairo. He was one of three sons that his parents would have together. He was educated in the French Catholic school "Les Frères" in Cairo. El-Rihani had a turbulent marriage with Badia Masabni, an actress and businesswoman who settled in Cairo after living within the United States for years, and established her famous cabaret, "Casino Badia." They separated before his death. He died at the age of 60 years in Cairo of typhus, while filming his last film, " Ghazal Al Banat". Aziza Amir ( ar, عزيزة أمير; 17 December 1901 – 28 February 1952) was an Egyptian actress, producer, and screenwriter. She has legendary status in Egyptian film. She was the first wife of Mahmoud Zulfikar. Early life and career Aziza Amir was born Mofida Mohamed Ghoneim in Damiettia, Egypt on 17 December 1901. Amir went to school at Hosn El Massarat on Mohamed Ali Street. Her dad worked at sea to provide for her family. Amir changed her name due to the general outlook of Egyptian society on theatre women and how it would’ve negatively affected her family's reputation. After the revolution of 1919 women's levels of energy rose and they wanted to make a difference. Amir got her acting start in the theater. Aziza then took the stage and started working as a theatre actress. Assia Dagher ( ar, آسيا داغر; 6 March 1908 – 12 January 1986) was a Lebanese-Egyptian actress and film producer. Biography Dagher (Almaza Dagher) was born in Tannourine, Lebanon on March 6, 1908. She moved to Cairo with her sister Mary, and niece Mary Queeny in 1919, when she was only 11 years old, after the French occupation of Syria and Lebanon. Fatima Rushdi (1908-1996) was an Egyptian actress, singer, film director, and producer who was one of the pioneers of Egyptian cinema. Early life Born in Alexandria, Fatima Rushdi moved to Cairo at 14 to become an actress. Without any formal training, and speaking only Arabic, she started her own theatrical troupe in 1926 and travelled throughout North Africa. Theater director `Aziz `Id fell in love with her and enabled her to learn to read and write. Amina Mohamed (1908–1985) was an Egyptian dancer, actress and film director. Life Mohamed was from a poor rural background without links to the Cairo art scene.
