Dr Harty Cup
The Dr Harty Cup, officially known as the Munster Colleges Senior A Hurling Championship, is an annual inter-schools hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-schools hurling competition in the province of Munster, and has been contested every year, except on two occasions, since 1918. Ardscoil Ris are the centenary Champions winning the title in 2018. The final, usually held in February, serves as the culmination of a series of games played between October and January. Eligible players must be under the age of 19. The Dr Harty Cup is an integral part of the wider All-Ireland Colleges Championship. The winners and runners-up of the Dr Harty Cup final, like their counterparts in the Connacht and Leinster Championships, advance to the All-Ireland quarter-finals or semi-finals. Flag Of Belgium (civil)
The national flag of Belgium ( nl, vlag van België, french: drapeau de la Belgique, german: Flagge Belgiens) is a tricolour consisting of three equal vertical bands displaying the national colours of Belgium: black, yellow, and red. Ardscoil Rís, Limerick
Ardscoil Rís is a voluntary, all-boys, Roman Catholic secondary school in Limerick, Ireland. Located on the North Circular Road, its catchment area includes neighbourhoods on the northside of Limerick such as Caherdavin, Mayorstone and Clareview though many students commute from other areas of the city as well as surrounding rural areas. History Ardscoil Rís was formally opened by the Christian Brothers, in Limerick on the North Circular Road on 1 September 1963, when it welcomed 52 pupils. Classes were held in an old school house until the first purpose-built classrooms were available. This first intake included Pat Cox, then a noted master debater, later a distinguished politician. Conor Boylan (born 22 March 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for Limerick Senior Championship club Na Piarsaigh and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a left wing-forward. Playing career Ardscoil Rís Boylan first came to prominence as a hurler with Ardscoil Rís in Limerick. On 20 February 2016, he was at right wing-forward when Ardscoil Rís won the Harty Cup title after an 0-11 to 0-08 defeat of Our Lady’s Secondary School from Templemore in the final. University College Cork On 23 February 2019, Boylan was a substitute for University College Cork when they faced Mary Immaculate College in the Fitzgibbon Cup final. Peter Casey (hurler)
Peter Casey is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-forward for club side Na Piarsaigh and at inter-county level with the Limerick senior hurling team. His brother, Mike Casey, also plays for both teams. Playing career College Casey first came to prominence as a hurler with Ardscoil Rís in Limerick. On 20 February 2016, he scored two points when Ardscoil Rís won the Harty Cup title after an 0–11 to 0–08 defeat of Our Lady's Secondary School from Templemore in the final. Club Casey joined the Na Piarsaigh club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels, enjoying championship success in the under-16 and under-21 grades. Our Lady's Secondary School, Templemore, is a second-level school in Templemore, County Tipperary, Ireland. The school's motto ( la, Misericordia) means "mercy". It is under the ethos of the Catholic Church and is located in the ecclesiastical parish of Templemore, Clonmore and Killea. History The school was established when the Sisters of Mercy opened a convent in Templemore in 1863. In 1955 the Convent School became a Voluntary Secondary School, catering for around three hundred girls, including eighty boarders. The Christian Brothers School opened in 1932, providing secondary education for boys. In 1985, the two schools amalgamated to form Our Lady's Secondary School, combining the philosophies of Catherine McAuley and Edmund Ignatius Rice. Midleton CBS Secondary School
Midleton CBS Secondary School is a Catholic secondary school for boys, located in Midleton, County Cork, Ireland. Midleton CBS was founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1867. History The Christian Brothers arrived in Midleton in 1867 at the request of the parish priest who recognized the need of a dedicated school to educate the town's Roman Catholic male youth, at a time when the Church of Ireland's Midleton College was fast expanding. The local community provided donations for the cost of the construction, and the school opened on 3 April 1867, with over 300 pupils joining in its first week. The last of the Christian Brothers left the school in 2003, with the monastery and old school building being taken over by the Diocese of Cloyne for parish use. Ciarán Joyce
Ciarán Joyce (born 2002) is an Irish hurler. At club level he plays with Castlemartyr, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Early life Born and raised in Castlemartyr, County Cork, Joyce first played hurling to a high standard as a student at Midleton CBS. He progressed through the various age grades before joining the school's senior team in 2018. Joyce's first year as a senior ended with a 2-12 to 0-14 defeat of St Flannan's College in the 2019 Harty Cup final. He added a Dr O'Callaghan Cup medal to his collection in February 2020 after a 3-24 to 1-15 defeat of St Francis College in the final. Sam Quirke
Sam Quirke (born 2002) is an Irish hurler who plays for Cork Senior Championship club Midleton. He also joined the Cork senior hurling team in advance of the 2022 season. Career Quirke first played hurling competitively as a schoolboy with Midleton CBS Secondary School with whom he won a Harty Cup title in 2019. He later progressed onto the Midleton club team, following in the footsteps of his uncle David Quirke, and won a Premier SHC title in 2021. By this stage Quirke had won consecutive All-Ireland Under-20 Championship titles with the Cork under-20 team in 2020 and 2021. His performances in this grade earned a call-up to the senior team training panel in December 2021.
