Asian Boyz
Amongst the Asian Boyz, also known as ABZ, AB-26, or ABZ Crips, are a street gang based in Southern California. They were founded in the late 1980s as part of efforts of protection for Cambodian refugees from the more numerous American gangs in their localities. According to the FBI, the gang is predominantly Southeast Asian-American, of which Cambodian account for their majority, while Vietnamese and other Southeast Asians comprise sizable numbers. With approximately 2,000 members, many are known to have enlisted in the U.S. military through which some were able to use their position to traffic drugs. Green Meadows, Los Angeles
Green Meadows is a neighborhood in South Los Angeles, California, with a population of more than thirty thousand people. Green Meadows is within the South Los Angeles Community Plan area and is the home of Locke College Preparatory Academy. Unincorporated era Known as an agricultural and dairying area in the 19th century, Green Meadows was an unincorporated area seven miles south of Los Angeles on the road leading to Wilmington. Avalon Gardens
The Avalon Gardens is a public housing project located in the Green Meadows neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. It is one of the oldest housing projects owned by the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. History Avalon Gardens was constructed in 1941 during World War II for military families and veterans at a cost of $638,000. In 1947, the housing projects were open to low income residents. Since there was a significant waiting list to get into the newly built homes, it was not until the 1950s that the residents went from military families to low-income families. In the early 1970s it became the turf of the Avalon Garden Crips gang led by Jimel Barnes, who lived in the project. In the late 1970s the buildings began to deteriorate and they experienced an increase in crime. By the early 1990s it was labeled as a "war zone" and was dominated by drug activity and violence.
