In religious belief, a saint is a person who is recognized as having an exceptional degree of Q-D-Š, holiness, likeness, or closeness to God. Ana Julia Duque Heckner
Ana Julia Duque Heckner (14 August 1898 – 25 July 1993) – in religious María Berenice – was a Colombian Roman Catholic professed religious and the founder of the Little Sisters of the Annunciation. Duque first entered the Dominican nuns in Bogotá in 1917 where she made her solemn profession after the completion of her novitiate period. It was after this that she spent the next three decades teaching children in various locations until she saw the plight of the poor and the minorities around her; she decided to establish a religious congregation that would cater to their needs and secured support from the Archbishop of Bogotá to achieve this. Pedro María Ramírez Ramos
Pedro María Ramírez Ramos (23 October 1899 – 10 April 1948) was a Colombian Roman Catholic priest killed during the outbreak of the Colombian civil war known as '' La Violencia''. He served as the pastor of Armero, where he was stationed until his murder in 1948. The outbreak of the conflict saw families offer to smuggle him out of the town for his safety, which he refused, saying that he would not abandon his people in their hour of need. But liberal insurgents – who saw him as an instigator of the assassination of a leading national politician – burst into his church and took him to the central square where he was lynched and mutilated. The cause for Ramírez' canonization was opened in 1993. Mariano de Jesús Euse Hoyos (14 October 1845 - 13 July 1926) was a Colombian Roman Catholic priest ordained in 1872 for the Diocese of Santa Rosa de Osos. The Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB), formally known as the Society of Saint Francis de Sales (), is a religious congregation of men in the Catholic Church, founded in the late 19th century by Italian priest Saint John Bosco to help poor children during the Industrial Revolution. Luigi Variara
Luigi Variara (15 January 1875 - 1 February 1923) was an Italian Roman Catholic priest and a professed member of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He served for most of his life as part of the missions in Colombia where he worked with lepers and the children of outcast lepers. He was ordained as a priest while serving there and made it his mission to provide both relief and consolation. He established his own religious congregation - the Daughters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary - with the intention of allowing lepers and the children of lepers the chance to enter the religious life.
