Augustinian Church, Vienna
The Augustinian Church (german: link=no, Augustinerkirche) in Vienna is a parish church located on Josefsplatz, next to the Hofburg, the winter palace of the Habsburg dynasty in Vienna. Originally built in the 14th century as the parish church of the imperial court of the Habsburgs, the harmonious Gothic interior was added in the 18th century. The official name of church and parish is St. Augustin, but it is locally called ''Augustinerkirche''. History In 1327, Duke Frederick ''the Handsome'' (''Friedrich der Schöne'') founded this church with a cloister for the Augustinian friars. In 1634, the Augustinerkirche became the parish church of the imperial church. As imperial church, many Habsburg weddings took place there, including the wedding of Archduchess (and future Empress) Maria Theresa in 1736 to Duke Francis of Lorraine, the wedding of Archduchess Marie Louise in 1810 to Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte of France, Maria Leopoldina in 1817 to Dom Pedro of Portugal, and the weddi ...

Kaasgrabenkirche
The Kaasgrabenkirche, also known as the ''Wallfahrtskirche “Mariä Schmerzen”'', is a Roman Catholic parish and pilgrimage church in the suburb of Grinzing in the 19th district of Vienna, Döbling. The church has been managed since 1903 by the order of the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and is equally the seat of the branch of the order covering Austria and Southern Germany. It has had the status of a parish church since 1939. The name ''Kaasgrabenkirche'' hearkens back to an old name for the local area, which probably indicates the presence of water (mineral springs) that were rich in iron and sulphur. The smell and colour of this water resembled whey, which is sometimes referred to as ''Käsewasser'' (literally, ''cheese water'') in German. References survive from 1280 to ''Chezwazzeresgraben'' and from 1331 to ''Cheswassergraben''. History There is a legend concerning the Kaasgrabenkirche that takes place during the second siege of Vienna in 1683. According to the leg ...

Jesuit Church, Vienna
The Jesuit Church (german: Jesuitenkirche), also known as the University Church (german: Universitätskirche), is a two-floor, double-tower church in Vienna, Austria. Influenced by early Baroque principles, the church was remodeled by Andrea Pozzo between 1703 and 1705. The Jesuit Church is located on Dr. Ignaz Seipel-Platz, immediately adjacent to the old University of Vienna buildings. History The Jesuit Church was built between 1623 and 1627 on the site of an earlier chapel, at the time when the Jesuits merged their own college with the University of Vienna's philosophy and theology faculty. The emperor broke ground for both college and church, with the church itself dedicated to Saints Ignatius Loyola and Francis Xavier. In 1703, Brother Andrea Pozzo, S.J., an architect, painter, and sculptor, and a master in the quadratura, was requested by Emperor Leopold I to redecorate the church. He added twin towers and reworked the façade in an early Baroque style with narrow horiz ...

Glanzing Parish Church
Glanzing Parish Church (german: Glanzinger Pfarrkirche) is a Roman Catholic parish church in the suburb of Glanzing in the 19th district of Vienna, Döbling. History The area of the parish of Glanzing originally belonged to the parish of Pötzleinsdorf. The route to the parish church was however difficult, particularly in winter, and over time the church proved too small as well. As a result, the local population was invited to attend church services held from 1930 or 1934 in the chapel of the (Glanzing Paediatric Clinic). The realisation of plans drawn up in the late 1930s to build a new church was frustrated by the outbreak of World War II. In the first weeks after the end of the war, in May 1945, a garage in the Koschatgasse served as a provisional venue for services; the City of Vienna earmarked a section of the gardens in the Glanzinggasse in July of the same year for the construction of a church. At first, a wooden structure with space for 110 people was erected on th ...

Elisabeth von Ungarn), is the mother church of the Teutonic Order, a German-based Roman Catholic religious order formed at the end of the 12th century. Located in Vienna, Austria, near the Stephansdom, it is the current seat of the Grand Master of the Order.
