The CHA Rookie of the Year was an annual award given out at the conclusion of the College Hockey America regular season to the best freshman player in the conference as voted by the coaches of each CHA team. College Hockey America
College Hockey America (CHA) is a college ice hockey conference in the United States. It participates in the NCAA's Division I as a hockey-only conference. The conference is made up of five women’s teams, with two in Pennsylvania; two in New York, and one in Missouri. A former member in Pennsylvania will return in 2023. History The CHA was founded as a men's-only league in the 1999–2000 season. The conference was formed by seven teams, three of which were Division I independent teams, another three moving up from Division II, after the NCAA stopped sanctioning Division II hockey in 1998, and one new varsity program (Wayne State). The newly formed women's division of the CHA began play in the 2002–03 season with four teams. Findlay, Mercyhurst and Wayne State were former Great Lakes Women's Hockey Association members, while Niagara played previously in the ECAC. Scott Munroe
Scott Munroe (born January 20, 1982) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey goaltender who predominantly played in the American Hockey League (AHL). He is currently serving as an assistant coach with Trinity College. Playing career Munroe played NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2002 to 2006. Playing in 99 games for the Chargers, Munroe is the all-time career save percentage leader (.918) for UAH. Munroe also holds UAH season records for games played (31), most minutes (1812:54), most shots faced (1,084), most saves (993). He also holds the Chargers' single period record for saves and shots faced stopping 33 of 34 shots against the University of Minnesota on Nov. 2, 2003. Chris Moran (ice Hockey)
Air Chief Marshal Sir Christopher Hugh Moran, (28 April 1956 – 26 May 2010) was a fast jet pilot and later a senior commander in the Royal Air Force. He was Commander-in-Chief of Air Command at the time of his unexpected death. Early and family life Moran was born in Urmston, Lancashire, and educated at Bishop Ullathorne School in Coventry in the late sixties and early seventies before attending the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology to study mechanical engineering. In 1974, whilst studying at university, Moran became a university cadet in the Royal Air Force. He was commissioned an acting pilot officer on 16 December of that year, together with Stuart Peach, who also achieved the rank of air chief marshal. Les Reaney
Les Reaney (born July 8, 1984) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre. Career Reaney began his career in the ECHL for the Stockton Thunder and the Dayton Bombers before joining the Rapid City Rush of the Central Hockey League. In the 2009-10 season, Reaney scored 86 points for the Rush, 28 goals and 58 assists, and was named into the CHL All-Star team. In 2012, Reaney moved to the Wichita Thunder of the CHL for one season before moving to Europe. Wayne State Warriors Men's Ice Hockey
The Wayne State Warriors men's ice hockey team competed in NCAA's Division I in the College Hockey America (CHA) conference representing Wayne State University. The university dropped their men's program at the end of the 2007–08 season. Program History Wayne State University began its men's ice hockey program in 1999, one of several programs to begin at or promote their programs to Division I ice hockey in the late 1990s. Before their first season the Warriors signed Bill Wilkinson as their first coach, hoping that his 20-year track record at Western Michigan would help bring in recruits and build the program quickly. After a year as an Independent, Wayne State was invited to join College Hockey America, a conference made entirely of newly D-I programs. Forward (ice Hockey)
In ice hockey, a forward is a player, and a position on the ice, whose primary responsibility is to score and assist goals. Generally, the forwards try to stay in three different lanes of the ice going from goal to goal. It is not mandatory, however, to stay in a lane. Staying in a lane aids in forming the common offensive strategy known as a triangle. One forward obtains the puck and then the forwards pass it between themselves making the goalie move side to side. This strategy opens up the net for scoring opportunities. This strategy allows for a constant flow of the play, attempting to maintain the control of play by one team in the offensive zone. The forwards can pass to the defence players playing at the blue line, thus freeing up the play and allowing either a shot from the point (blue line position where the defence stands) or a pass back to the offence. Stavros Paskaris (born August 31, 1984) is an American former ice hockey player. Paskaris attended Wayne State University where he played four years with the Wayne State Warriors men's ice hockey team which then competed in the NCAA's Division I College Hockey America (CHA) conference. In his final year (2007–08) Paskaris was named to the CHA First All-Star Team.
