George Beauchamp (music Hall)
Sarsfield Patrick Beauchamp (20 February 1862 – 28 December 1900), known professionally as George Beauchamp, was an English music hall singer and comedian. He was born in Southwark, London, the son of a policeman, and in early life worked at a printing company, eventually becoming a compositor. By 1879, he joined a theatre company specialising in melodramas and Shakespeare, and in 1882 promoted himself as an "eccentric vocal character comedian". He appeared in shows and pantomimes in the north of England, and then in London, and made several visits to perform in the United States as well as one to Australia in 1898. In the biography of Charles Morton, "The Father of the Music Halls", Beauchamp was described as "very eccentric but otherwise estimable..... really droll comic-singer, who had the funniest of faces..". Tottenham () is a town in North London, England, within the London Borough of Haringey. It is located in the ceremonial county of Greater London. Harry Champion
William Henry Crump (17 April 1865 – 14 January 1942), better known by the stage name Harry Champion, was an English music hall composer, singer and comedian, whose onstage persona appealed chiefly to the working class communities of East End of London, East London. His best-known recordings include "Boiled Beef and Carrots" (1909), "I'm Henery the Eighth, I Am" (1910), "Any Old Iron (song), Any Old Iron" (1911) and "A Little Bit of Cucumber" (1915). Champion was born in Bethnal Green, East London. He made his stage debut at the age of 17 at the Royal Victoria Music Hall in Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green, in July 1882. He initially appeared as Will Conray and went on to appear in small music halls in the East End. Mrs Caulfield
Louisa Caulfield ( Matley, 23 April 1817 – 11 September 1870), known as Mrs Caulfield, was an English music hall singer active in the 1850s and 1860s. She was born in London, and married John Caulfield (1810–1865), an actor. Mrs Caulfield was one of the first female entertainers to appear at Evans's Supper Rooms and at the Canterbury Music Hall, where her husband became the Chairman. Canvey Island is a town, civil parish and reclaimed island in the Thames estuary, near Southend-on-Sea, in the Castle Point district, in the county of Essex, England. Herbert Campbell
Herbert Campbell (22 December 1844 – 19 July 1904), born Herbert Edward Story, was an English comedian and actor who appeared in music hall, Victorian burlesques and musical comedies during the Victorian era. He was famous for starring, for many years, in the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane's annual Christmas pantomimes, predominantly as a dame. Born in Lambeth, Campbell started his performing career appearing in amateur bands and quickly toured London's music hall's during the early 1860s. He decided to leave after a few years and adopted the stage name Herbert Campbell. He joined the minstrel performers Harman and Elston and the trio became known as ''Harmon, Campbell and Elston''. In 1868, Campbell decided to pursue a solo career as a comic vocalist and quickly established himself as a popular music hall comedian. Bessie Bonehill (17 February 1855 – 21 August 1902) was an English vaudeville singer, comic entertainer and male impersonator. She toured widely in the United States in the 1890s, becoming "one of the most famous and wealthy entertainers of her day". Biography She was born into a poor family in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England. Official records give her birth name as Betsey Bonehill. She appeared in the 1860s as a double act with her sister Marion. Ada Blanche
Ada Blanche (born Ada Cecilia Blanche Adams; 16 July 1862 – 1 January 1953) was an English actress and singer known early in her career for vivacious performances in Victorian burlesque and pantomime and later in character roles in Edwardian musical comedy. Born into a theatrical family, Blanche made her stage debut at the age of fourteen and had a forty-five year career, almost exclusively on the British stage, in the West End and on tour. In the 1890s she was a leading principal boy in London's most lavishly staged pantomimes. In the 20th century her career changed to playing comic, formidable older women. Her most celebrated role of this kind was in the hit musical '' The Arcadians'' (1909), staged by her brother-in-law Robert Courtneidge.
