Orlando Smith
Daniel Orlando Smith, OBE (born 28 August 1944) is a British Virgin Islands politician and the former Premier of the British Virgin Islands from 2011 to 2019 and from 2003 to 2007. He also formerly served as Chief Minister of the British Virgin Islands (as the role was formerly known before the 2007 constitution was adopted) from 2003 to 2007. He first won the office when his National Democratic Party won the 2003 general election, being the party's first victory at a general election in its history. Orlando Smith originally qualified as a physician, specialising in obstetrics, and was the territory's chief medical officer for many years both before and after entering politics. He entered politics at a relatively late stage of his career, being first elected to the Legislative Council of the British Virgin Islands (now called the House of Assembly) in the 1999 general election, as the head of the newly formed National Democratic Party (NDP). Dean Greenaway (born 13 January 1959 in Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) is a sprinter who represented the British Virgin Islands. Erroll Fraser
Erroll Canute Fraser (July 30, 1950 – December 24, 2002) was an ice speed skater from the British Virgin Islands, who represented his native country at the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia at the age of 33. There he finished in 40th (500 m) and 42nd place (1.000 m), in the nation's first-ever appearance at the Winter Olympics. Fraser is believed to be the only black speed skater in the twentieth century to compete at the Winter Games. Peter Crook
Peter Crook (born January 9, 1993 in Tortola, British Virgin Islands) is a British Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islander freestyle skiing, freestyle skier who has competed since 2009 in the halfpipe discipline. Crook has qualified to compete for the British Virgin Islands at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, becoming the second ever Winter Olympian to represent the country. Crook and his family moved to Wisconsin, United States in 2001, where he picked up skiing. In 2008, he moved to Colorado and became a professional freestyle skier. Jennie N. Wheatley MBE (born 1939) is a writer and historian from the British Virgin Islands. A long-standing member of the country's intellectual community, she has worked to preserve and share the islands' history and culture. Early life and education Wheatley was born Jennie Naomi Smith in 1939 in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. After high school, she attended the Leeward Islands Teachers Training College in Antigua, where she graduated in 1960. She returned to Tortola and worked as a schoolteacher there before traveling to Canada, where she studied at Mount Allison University, an institution that actively recruited students from the British Virgin Islands during this period. She graduated with bachelor's degrees in English and education in 1970.
